The problem ...and the "fix" I've posting about happened on my 2022 model year. So it's definitely common problem, from 2020 through 2022. (Sorry, I can't say if it's affecting 2023 models or not, though.)

I don't have this issue with my 2018 TRD Off-Road. Never had it with the 2014, the 2010, or the 2006 4runners either. It seems to have started with the 2021 Toyota models.
