Hi Bullfroger, as usual these forums are so good fornhelpingnto figure out things. It does look like the accumulator and motor can be repaired. I went the other route with a used unit. I was told I had to bleed it a certain way due to all the solenoid packs. Not sure if this is even necessary...
What have you spent several thousands of dollars on? Was it motor related components? Maybe call and talk to a Toyota Tech? Now that you have the codes at least you can start with that and hopefully find an answer. Sorry about your luck with the 4 Runner. I assume you bought it used?
I have a weird issue with my AC too! My compressor kicks off about once a minute for like 10 seconds. You can feel a change in the temp of the air and you can smell this weird kind of wet smell for those 10 seconds. I've changed the relay thinking that was it but I never had the blinking AC...
Sorry just seen this post. I had someone install it because I was told it needed to be bled in a certain order for all the solenoids. Makes sense but im not sure how true it is.
Im not a mechanic but my uneducated guess would be that your ok. The oil might have gotten a bit foamy from being overfilled but I wouldn't think a quart would do much permanent damage since you did catch it before too many miles were put on it.
This is a crappy situation. I know you want them to fix it but the question is will they. It also sucks you are leaving the country otherwise I'd say get it home via a tow or whatever then start diagnosing yourself. If the reservoir was really low then they didn't add fluid and burp it after...
So by replaced cat you mean the original cat was running 50 to 75 degrees cooler correct? Sorry it's 5:30 am and I just worked all night so my mind is fuzzy. Either way sounds like you are on the correct track by troubleshooting and eliminating things one by one. Emission problems suck as it is...
Try getting a laser thermometer and then running the truck so the Cat's are nice and hot so they can do their job. Get under the truck and try checking temps for inlet and for outlet of the Cat's. I tested the cats with my thermometer and the one under the drivers seat had a high inlet temp but...
I'd like it if you could get rid of all the gold and replace it with black chrome then get rid of the graphics and go with a graphite or black set of wheels!
About a cup so far. Didn't lose much after pulling the hoses as I had plugs for them. Not sure how much was actually in the old radiator but i''ve been checking the level and it says full still.
