4runner specialists/garages?
Hello all
I'm about to acquire a 3rd gen 4runner and wanted to know if you guys know any garages that specialize in 4runners? I heard there's a place on the southshore? (google didn't give me anything)
cheers!

Do you recall the name of that shop on the southshore? I try and do most my own work but it'd be nice to know if there is a specialist around just incase.

There are 2
One is called auto place in St-Lambert (auto place is a franchise), apparently they got people who do work on 4runners and landcruisers, there are always a few parked outside.
The other one is in St-Michel QC near St-constant, St Remy area. This guy is known in the region for fixing up 4runners. Mrtoy4x4.com is the website but you can contact him on quebec4x4.com under Mr.Toy and get his info. I talked to him on the phone for my rack-and-pinion and I`m supposed to go over there soon once I get someone to drive me back

Neat...I wonder if they've got experience on 4th gens. I find them rare in this area of Canada. I see lots of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gens but rarely 4th gens. I even had to drive to the GTA to get mine.

If I have any issues I will forsure. So far (knock on wood) all is good.

Mr.Toy is the man. The guy is very good with 4runners and pickups. And he's very billingual. I always speak to him in English. His employees are french speaking.
Locally in Montreal/Quebec within the 4x4 toyota comunity he is just as well known for building offroad monsters as he is known for just simply keeping the old trucks on the road. That's more what he does, keeps the classics running. Anything from brakes, to engine swaps, transmission replacements, body and frame swaps, he's your man. He's even done my ARB locker install, and did gears on a friends recent FJ cruiser.
He hasn't worked on my 4th Gen yet. Most of the trucks he sees are the old 1-2-3rd gens. 4th gens shouldn't be failing much yet. His DD was a 500000km T100 so he's worked on the 4.7. Probably even done 4.7 swaps into a classic 4runner. The difference is that if you go in with a 1995 4runner, and need a door he might just have it, if you need a front axle for your 1984 or an exhaust he might just have it. On a 2005....if you smashed your hood or need the exhuast...he'll probably not have those in stock. But I can't say enough about this guy, because he's helped me out alot with getting parts for my 1st Gen and he shares the 4runner passion too.

Callum check out Club / Forum TORQ. That would be club toyota offroad quebec
I've been active with them for a few years. The site is French mainly. But i can't think of anyone who isn't bilingual. Dont let that stop you, it hasn't stopped me.
Active members are mainly centered in montreal, laval and longueil. But we have members from all over the province. Even have some from ottawa and new york. Basically we trail in locations about 30mins-2hrs from these locations.
There is a social gathering like a weekend brunch or dinner once a month. We thread ligthly so trails start after snow melts and ground dries up a bit, or in winter when ground is frozen.
We have all gens of runners, 1st -5th. But fact is most are FJ Cruisers. So id love some runner buddies ;). Some landcruisers, too 40,60,70,80 series
We're so friendly we even have jeep members. Fact of the matter, we all have friends with non toyota 4x4s, we trail with people, people drive the truck they got.
So we're active. We're just a little low key.

Yah come spring I'll be buying a set of much needed AT tires. Are the trails "paint" friendly? LOL...I don't mean to sound like a sissy, I can deal with a bit of pin stripping but it is my dd so I don't want to scar it up too bad.

For the most part yes. Best to come to a stock friendly new member trail. And then gauge what your tolerance is based on that.

Frame rust / châssis rouillé
Hi All,
New owner of a 3rd Gen 4Runner, have a bit of frame rust problem and needed repair, was wondering if you knew if there is a garage specialist willing to do the repairs. I'm from southshore of MTL.
Also, Atelier Mr.Toy stills operates ?? I might be interested.
Thanks Merci
