Not sure if anyone here is into night/astrophotography (I'm sure someone is...) but I'm new to the area and am hoping for some advice on places to go shoot, specifically the Milky Way. Anything kinda near Boulder County would be great.
You could try Arapahoe Pass, which is up the road from Nederland, or Butler Gulch, which is near Berthoud Pass up I-70. Both locations are nice drives and are just far enough away from town lights to perhaps offer some great night views. Arapahoe Pass is a pretty barren saddle with a wide sky view. Good luck.
I'm a bit late to this thread. If you're still looking to head out for some night photos, Lots of options along the Peak-to-Peak for milky way (St Milo's can be real good if the power's still out from the floods.) More in RMNP and Golden Gate SP.
Mw season is from Late April - Sept, but Winter sky can be lots of fun as well. Got a total Lunar Eclipse coming up Jan 21 2019.
