Hello everyone! I’m pleased to have found this thread. I move to Boston in the fall (hopefully) to begin working towards my medical degree. I would love to try to wheel sometime on the weekends if possible. If any of you want to hit me up, you can find me on insta @Griffin4Runner .
Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'm in RI and have never 4 wheeled before (in my 4runner). Proud owner of a 2011 sbp Trail edition. I knew it was a gem when I went to new london to look at it (California car, no rust), but didn't know that the 2011 te was such a unicorn! Now I'm scared to make any major mods New England Members

MA 4Runner

Whats up everyone. New to the forum and also new to owning a 4Runner. I'm in the central MA area and would love to start chatting with folks who have experience modding their 4Runners. A lot of info out there and its really overwhelming at times. I have a grey 2009 Sport and recently purchased a Bilstein 5100 lift kit with ARB OME rear coils, Falken Wildpeak AT# 275/70R17's and a power commander today! Haven't gotten them installed but everything should be put together in two weeks hopefully. Other than that, I'm kind of stuck thinking about what to do next. Would love to hear some ideas or if there's ever any meet up's, count me in! Cheers

You could probably find a TRD supercharger.
Are you into sound systems? I dyna-matted my doors and hatch. That improved the road noise.
Auto Sound in Plainville do good work. And it’s a short stagger from Rancho Chico!

There’s a speed shop Mendon https://smgmotoring.com/

Heard good things about Fred.

Haha supercharger seems like a little much. Is something like that even necessary for trail riding? Power commander gave me the boost I was looking for. I’m really focused on the next aesthetic improvement like a roof rack. Wheels will most likely be much later on. Internally I’m thinking a CAI system like aFE and then a née exhaust. My cat is starting to go. I can smell exhaust under hard acceleration and ammonia every once and a while too

Hi fellow new englanders,

Hoping you're enjoying the glorious sunshine; RI has been real nice today after a wet yesterday.

So I have a 2011 with minimal rust as it spent most of its life in California. Last fall, I looked into rust proofing in Rhode Island, and the only vendor was autorust.com, offering to do a major job for $1,500 - sandblasting, then painting with rust inhibitor and the works.

That's like 10% of the cost of the car! I really feel that a por 15 or fluid film coating before the winter should suffice. Would you folks know of shops in the RI /MA /CT area that could do this for $200-300? I've seen this approach being suggested on the forums here, but haven't come across the right vendors and would really appreciate your guidance.

Thank you!

I suggest that your best bet might be to buy a gallon of Woolwax (like fluid film but doesn't stink) and the spray gun from the same folks and do it yourself. You'll need an air compressor but you could rent or buy one and then you'll be able to keep up with it twice a year (spring and fall is my schedule). Easy to do out on my lawn so if you have room it is your least expensive option.

Best roof rack for surfboards?

I own a 2014 SR5. I’m looking to buy crossbars and such to transport multiple surfboards. Usually I’d have two and sometimes up to four. Any recommendations? Be great to get something that I could use in the winter too for skis/snowboards. Thanks for any help.

I bought LFD Offroad crossbars and have been very happy. You want my factory crossbars for free? Just pick them up from Cambridge, MA. PM me if you want them.

Just moved to Portland, ME from Atlanta and traded in my Tacoma for a 2010 4runner. Anyone recommend spots to go offroading nearby? White mtns in NH look like closest best option
