"New" 1991 4runner with small lift kit

Hey guys!
I have just purchased a 1991 (v6) 4runner, having owned a gen 1 and a 1991 pickup, I Have always wanted a gen 2 4runner....
I got one off a friend that needs a little work, but since I only paid 800 who can argue?
It comes with a smaller lift on it, tho I havent even looked to see if its a body lift or a suspension kit. Its had the body repainted and isnt in bad shape... He was running larger tires on it and blew out the power steering...
It also requires complete brake overhaul... feels like ABS is engaged underfoot...so new pads, rotors as a minimum....

To celebrate another buddy who builds exoskeleton type jeeps gave me a set of new 35 inch tires (they are waay to small for his needs)...
I am just wondering what the minimum clearances are for running 35s? Im not looking to jack up the truck more then required...I will be taking it offroad, especially in winter (hunting season) in Canada...so lots of snow work.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome! Head over to the classics section, and read around a bit. Depending on your lift, 33s will fit great with no rubbing, but you can also make the 35s work with a little handy dandy sledge hammer work.

Lets see your truck!

Its all about the parts you break, and the friends you make.

Hey thanks for the post.. Ill get some pics soon.. I dont plan on getting her on the road for at least a month... Im home from a surgery and cant get to fixing her for a while...
A sledge you say? damn...Rather not if I can help it...mabey fender flares then. Wanted to keep her as stock as possible (in appearance) Only using the 35's because they are free!
I am just looking to make her bullet proof and while I may be offroading, it will only be farmers fields (with permission) to collect my dinner... Im not really planning on wheeling her all that hard. I figured at some point Ill need to look at lockers, but untill then I just need something I can trust in a Canadian winter to get me home safe!
