My story
Well I find myself getting excited about trucks again! let me explain: I've driven Toy's for the last 20 some odd years. First was a 89 4x4 pu 22re all stock, then 94 xtra cab 4x4 22re really miss that one! now 04 Tacoma 4x4 xtra cab 4cyl, my wife started out with a 99 4runner that we now have updated with a 2010 Trail Edition 4runner in light blue. My Dad started this Toyota thing back in the 70's when he would buy an sedan model Toy for cheap usually not running, rebuild the head or do a valve job, use the thing for a few years then sell it for more than he paid for it! So now my boys are older and I'm not working side jobs all the time, my wife is back to work. And my house is done. Cant sit still though, I've had jeeps along the way and told the boys that we would get one one day. But somewhere along the line I remembered the first generation 4 Runners, more civilized than a jeep and we've probably driven over 500,000 miles relatively problem free as a family with our Toys. So that settled I stared to look. NJs winters make it so that these trucks disintegrate due to rust issues over time. Searched c-list obsesively, no luck, started to branch out accross the US desparately trying to find one, justifying flying out and driving back. My c-list o.c.d paid off though and I found one about 45 min away! got lucky, found it on my birthday! never had this happen before, owner let me take it, drive it home no deposit etc he said he trusted me! Paid him the next day. He was willing to negotiate to $2200 1988 SR 5 V-6 180,000 mi unmolested. My story.
