greetings from Europe
Hi all,
got a 2005 V8 limited with US specs in Europe just last week, the 4Runner has only 65k miles on the clock and the price was irresistable since it was a US military sale with special discount.
Great car, but I am wondering how it fits to European driving culture. 80+ mph is pretty standard travel speed here, and fuel economy goes down to hell with anything above 2k rpm.
So far I drove it for 1300 miles and have achieved max. 19.5 mpg at a speed of 60 mph, but city and long distance with 75 to 95 mph is around 13.5 to 14 mpg - quiet high! European gas price is about double of the US, so that hurts!
Happy to read your experiences!

Taller tires will lower your RPMs. However, going too tall will hurt economy by taking it out of its powerband. Also the aerodynamics of these trucks is, well its a truck! Actually your MPG sounds pretty good for what you're doing...

the engine:
2UZ-FE, 4dr SUV, 270-horsepower, 4.7L V8, 5-speed automatic AWD
Very powerful machine, but I wonder if anyone has the diesel engine and can share some experience reg. fuel economy and power?

We don't get diesel 4Runners here.

the D4D engine
ad20034RunnerV84x2: ah, that's a pity, I have a D4D common rail diesel emgine in my other Toyota, it's a powerful and super-economic engine with an amazing fuel economy. In Europe the 4Runner/Hilux is also available with diesel engines, but I have not yet found anyone who owns one of those.
