New guy from south west Michigan

I just finished the replacing the head gaskets on a 94 SR5 limited i bought for $1300. i originally purchased it as a winter beater but after 2 weeks on the road i'm getting to like it more. i would like to gain some more MPG's outta this thing ... any suggestions? (different air intake, removing the CAT. )

The best thing to get better mpg is a good tune up and correct tire pressure.
There's no quick/easy/cheap way, or Toyota would have already done it, and removing the cat conv is certainly not going to do it.

What will removing the cat conv. do?(as far as negative effects). I don't live in an inspection sticker state, and i've removed the CAT on almost every Vehicle i've owned and notice a small improvement in both power and mpg... just curious as why that wouldn't improve mpg/power... also there is no O/2 sensor in mine (I wouldn't remove the CAT if it had an O/2 sensor)
