new to the forum and 4x4

hey 4runner people. I am new to the 4 runner world and better yet the 4x4 world. I am buying a 01 sr5 tomorrow and plan on getting it lifted and getting new tires asap! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on tires and sizes that could maybe fit stock and then look good with a 3'' lift in the near future??? Any pics or suggestions would be great and I will take pics tomorrow when I pick up my new "toy". Thanks from Austin, alex.

Hey, Alex,
I recently got the Firestone Destination A/T 265/75/16 and like them. I'm also in Austin. Crazy place, isn't it?

tires and off road parks

austin definitely is a fun and exciting place! i currently have 265/70/16's and i feel its almost the biggest i can have without some kind of lift... i was wondering if 31 or 32's would fit with minimal cutting and taking the stock splash guards off? and also look good with a 3 inch lift which i plan on getting soon. Anyways, does anyone know of some novice/intermediate trails to explore in or around the austin area or surrounding area?

There's a place called Hidden Falls a lot of people visit. I've never been there.

A place I have been is here: "Take Parmer to a small road called Yager (will be on the north side of Parmer, one block East of Dessau). Drive down Yager until you see huge power lines, and a dirt trail to your right."

I just moved to Houston from Austin for work. I'm really starting to miss it. It seems to live in a decent part of Houston you have to make a fortune. Let me know if you find any decent trails that don't require crazy tires and lifts in/around Austin. I visit a couple times a month.

I'm not sure what you consider a "fortune", but I live in Friendswood, and it is very reasonably priced and extremely nice. Plus, we're only 20 minutes from the beach! Don't get me wrong, I like Austin as well, but I love being near the water.... well, except during hurricanes. Ike sucked major ass!

Nice I grew up in Alvin, moved to Austin for school, then when I moved back to Houston for work I wanted to be near the center of the city. So, that's why I'm complaining. But, yes, you're right. Houston suburbs are very affordable.
