Hey everyone! My name's Bryan from Belmont, NC west of Charlotte. Glad to finally be posting one of these threads to introduce myself. I've been a member on the form for about a month and have been looking for a 4Runner for 2-3 months. I finally got one today. Had to drive down to Leland, NC near Wilmington for it, but I got pretty much everything I wanted. Most of all I wanted solid Imperial Jade Mica (no silver rocker panels/fender flares) and an 01-02. I never thought I'd be able to get Sport Edition for what my budget was.
I've already learned A LOT from just the month I've been here and plan to continue to. Just tonight, after getting my truck home, this forum helped me fix an odd issue with the horn going off four full/loud times when I hit the unlock button on the keyless entry. Got it re-coded to two short/half honks along with the beeps. Hopefully now I won't annoy my landlord and other nearby neighbors.
Here's the details:
2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport Edition
Imperial Jade Mica, Oak cloth interior
189k miles, 3.4L V6, auto, 4WD, locking diff
I'm the third owner. It's been a North Carolina truck its whole life.
It's got all the standard SR5 options plus keyless entry/factory security system, sunroof, rear heat, and probably a lot more I'm forgetting. It's got a Pioneer CD/DVD player with iPod connectivity that I love! It also came with a cargo area cage type thing (that I've already taken out and will be posting for sale on Craigslist and in the classifieds soon) as well as the brush bar/grille guard and PIAA lights that will likely be coming off within the week or so. There are brief moments when I think it gives it a more aggressive look, but I just don't think I can see myself liking it long-term. I also plan to plasti-dip the gold emblems black as soon as the weather allows. Someone's also put stick-on fake wood trim around the headunit and on the door lock/window switch panel. That ticks me off more than anything. I'm hoping some a hair dryer and some fishing line will get that crap off. I hate they covered up the Sport Edition silver.
Sorry for this intro post being so long. I'm sure yall are mostly here for the pictures.
