Ouch. I'll definitely be looking into some underbody protection products.

Names kimber just bought my first 3rd gen 4runner. Found this forum cause I'm having an odd scraping metallic sound from the front belts and pulleys.

Got it...I think...I just bought my 2019 and I am anxious to do some trail riding. I live in Palm Beach Gardens Florida and I am open to any information for open trail riding. My 4Runner is still pretty much stock, so I am not looking for extreme mudding yet. Nice to be here!

New don’t know what to do

Hi! Starting my second third gen build, first one was a white 99 sr5. Sold few years back. Now I’m onto a black 2001 limited. Lots of work to do still. Have most parts ordered already and will update once I start installing them. Live in the great northwest and have been stalking this forum for years and finally decided to join.

Hi there!

My name is William, I go by Will, and live here in the Dallas, TX area.

I have a son and we go camping with his Boy Scout Troop (Plano, TX) and after the first few years of Cub Scout camping taking the family sedan I finally got frustrated with the lack of space and searched online on a Thu evening, and run into a guy selling a 2002 Suburban with 207K miles, which must have been keep indoors as it looked very nice for the age. Interior showed the age/usage, but it looked promising. My next door neigthbor is on his 3rd "burb", so I took him with me the next day, and by evening I had the burb with me.

Fast forward 2 great years camping with my son all over Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Now that we take less kids with us camping, I "still" need an SUV, but I need a smaller one, so I will be putting the burb for sale shortly, and I am 100% decided on a 4x4 4Runner.

One of my co-workers who lives in Austin belongs to a 4x4 group that have lots of Jeeps and Toyotas, and after talking to him a lot, I have decided to stick with the 4Runner since they are "generally" more reliable in the long run.

My 2002 burb is RWD, and I have come too close to being stuck while camping 3-4 times. Almost had to be winched out on Jan of this year!. So hence why I "want" to get a 4x4 model.

I can probably get $3-4k for the burb, to use as downpayment, and with a a small $5-6K loan that gives me a working budget of $10K for a 4x4 4Runner to use for camping

From my initial search, it looks like I should be able to find a mid/late 4th gen (2005-2009) 4x4 4Runner for that budget, of course assuming higher mileage, which does not scare me too much on the Toyota (heck, my burb now has close to 220K miles!). My wife likes the 5th gen, but I don't think my budget will stretch that far!

Any tips or advice?

Any years or options to look for, or stay away from?

Will

Second time, with photos

I washed it up. I polished it up. I took photos. Here are a couple.
2010 SR5. I'm really liking this truck.

Looks great!

You just recently got it?

Were you looking exclusively for a 5th gen?

Hey Everyone,

Happy to be here! I have had my 5th Gen 2016 Trail Edition. I have had mine for almost 3 years but am just now looking to start making some mods and ultimately get some overlanding in. Hoping to be able to draw on the expertise in the group to get my build complete. Nice to meet everyone!

This is the Gen5 what I am interested in, but above my budget. Seems it had minor/cosmetic accident on 2012, otherwise up to date on all maintenance per the Carfax report:

Thoughts?

Exclamation

Hi Everyone! Just bought my 3rd 4runner (previously owned a 1994 and a 2000)

New one is “Jolene” and she is a 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5.

I’m working on concerting her to “Jolene the Time Machine” and I need some help locating an older model Party Button. I can’t seem to find anywhere online. I’ve got a nuclear power button, a Sasquatch lights button, but can’t find an OEM party mode button for sale.

Anyone know where to locate?

Hello just recently purchased a 19 4Runner. Long time off road enthusiast coming from the Jeep world glad to be in a Toyota again. I will be building the runner as a work/overland rig. Looking to take my family camping and on adventures like I went on with my dad when I was younger. I'm located in SW Texas and enjoy spending time out in the desert and hill country and trips to the beach. I will be starting a build thread once I am able to post. Thanks have a great day.
