HELLO everyone!
New to forum, NEW to toyota family!
I just placed an order for my 2020 4RunnerTRD PRO!
Excited to be apart of the community and cannot wait to get behind the wheel and go places *No toyota commercial pun intended*

My previous vehicle background was 1991 Toyota Supra Turbo, then a 2003 Nissan 350z. After spending a boat load of money I decided to sell and get out of that lifestyle and look for something to go anywhere.
I bought a 1996 Grand Cherokee and it lasted on 2 summers before electrical gremlins took over and I just couldn’t handle it anymore. My current and last vehicle that I have now owned over 10years is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport, and it’s been nothing but wonderful.

I recently turned 30years old and busted my tail at work for a while so i decided to treat myself to something NEW for a first time.
For the last 8months i’ve done research on overland trucks and just found myself going back to the 4runner. The only thing about it i dislike is 6speed trans and no front locking diffs but, the reliability of the truck is what made me happy about it.
Good friends of mine have Rubicons and they are always sharing the problems they have here and there.

So yesterday I finally got the green like from a good friend of mine at Toyota to start making orders for 2020 models.
Hopefully in another 60days or less i’ll be driving it around!

Going in for my first service on Wednesday. Why so few TRD parts for 4runners?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I started looking about two years ago. Over that time my search changed from something around $10000 as a third or fourth generation, to a more flexible budget and probably early 5th gen. When I got serious a couple of months ago I looked at trucks from about 2008 to 2013. I found a few "Limited"s which were not what I was looking for. I found quite a few with more rust than I wanted to deal with. I ended up with a short list of three. This one had everything that I was looking for with none of the apparent drawbacks. My wife looked at about four with me and pushed me to go for this one.

Now I'm starting to think about mods for this one to make it more durable when I take it off road.

What I found out...

EDIT: Found online that those stickers in that 2011 are fake!
Look for a toyota vin decoder (google search). When you plug in your vin the decoder should tell you a bunch of detail about what your vehicle shipped from the factory as. I don't remember it having everything, but it does have a fair amount.

Been looking around

I'm seeing some pretty sweet rides in here. Thanks for posting the photos everyone. I put in a couple of city shots of mine. Now I have to take it out in the dirt and take a few photos of it earning it's keep. Hopefully in a couple of weeks.
In the mean time, "Keep the shiny side up!"

I just purchased a 2016 4Runner this past month. Once I had the vehicle and drove it a couple days, I noticed a vibration in the brake pedal. I wanted to post here and see if this is normal, but I can't yet create a new thread. The vibration is NOT a rotor issue, it brakes smooth. The vibration is about 1 second long and will do it whenever I press the brake, including while parked. If I press the pedal even harder when stopped, it will do it again. I noticed the part that vibrates under the hood is identified as the "brake accumulator" in the Toyota parts specs.

I've searched this forum and everywhere else and all I'm finding is peopled saying it's part of the brake master cylinder assembly. I can't seem to find any direct answers as to whether this is normal, a severe problem, or how it can be remedied without replacing the entire master cylinder. I want the dealership to be held accountable if it's a legit issue. From my perspective it is an "abnormal vibration" in the brake pedal which "passed' on the Toyata Certified Used check list. IMO it shouldn't have passed as is. The last I've heard from the dealership was: "We don't know if it's normal or not" WTF? I've since asked for a brake bleed to be performed. I'm already sick of running to the dealership since they are not local to me. Any thoughts T4R?

Aloha from Kauai, HI

Hey all! Just dropping in to introduce myself. I just bought a 94 4x4 manual with the 22re. Love everything about this little truck. Used to have a 01 but sold it along time back.

Just been fixing all kinds of little things so far. Fixed cruise control (the plastic stopper that hits the switch was disintegrated so I slipped a bolt with bit flat head in the hole and it now works perfect.

Fixed the driver side window switches which apparently had got wet and shorted out.

Fixed rear windows that were off the track

Fixed loose throttle cables and sealed up a crack in the intake hose

Have some rust treatment to do and need to fix the muffler which has a small hole in it.

The MAIN thing I need help with is something I just noticed yesterday. When under load going up a big hill the engine will lose power and then gain it back sort of surging. This happens around 3k+ rpm.

At first I thought it was the AC kicking on and off but after turning it off it still does it.

My guess so far is the drive belt is slipping. It doesn’t squeal at all but I do hear a possible slight slip and low gear take off.

Other than this I’m not sure what would cause it? Fuel filter clogging? Clogged injector? There is NO check engine light and other than a slight roughness to the idle she runs great and starts everytime.

I poked around in my records and here is the VIN decoder for Toyota that I used myself. I hope you find it useful.

Dropping in to introduce myself. Im a T4R owner in Austin TX with an 02 SR5 3.4L V6 that mysteriously caught fire last year in the dash, totaling my baby. Im looking to sell it for parts but having no luck on craigslist. A friend recommended I check this forum out and it seems like the place to be. I know how beloved these vehicles are, I had 151k miles on mine at the time of the fire and planned to drive it for another 151k. With the right buyer, for atleast some of these parts that next 151k might just happen.
