Been following the forum for some time and decided I need to get active.

So much information out here...it’s been so helpful.

Stopping in to say Hi. got myself a 2000 SR5 and I couldn't be happier.
I guess have to reach the minium replies before I can ask for help.

I've been lurking this site for over a year and have learned a lot. And the place has helped me finally get to a stage were I've gone a week without a CEL.
I'll try to be more proactive on here, but most of the question I've put through, bring up posts from 5-8 years ago. Haha

[QUOTE=millerj1981;3367630]New to forum, thanks for thread!

Just purchased 2008 4R V6 LTD 120K miles a week ago from Toyota dealership. 300 miles later CEL came on, P0022 code. Oil looks good (likely changed at dealership before purchase), filter is Toyota brand. Cleared code at AutoZone and have driven ~50 miles since then, no CEL but taking it to dealership tomorrow.

Just curious if anyone else has had this code pop. Thanks for creating thread![/QUO

have you looked up what the code means?

Here is some possible causes:

P0022 TOYOTA Possible Causes
Dirty Oil -- checked
Faulty variable valve timing (VVT)
Faulty oil control valve (OCV)
Variable Valve Timing (VVT) harness is open or shorted
Oil Control Valve (OCV) circuit is open or shorted
Damaged Engine Control Module (ECM)

Just bought 07 4Runner

Figured I should join the forum since I have already gotten so much info from here.

Just converted over from a 98 Jeep Cherokee that I drove for 11 years. I've always liked 4Runners, figured I could start with a littler older one and put some work into it and learn more.

Bought it with stock suspension and 265/65R17 tires. Just did Bilstein suspension front and back with Toyo Open Country AT 285/70s. Excited to keep working on it! Here's a pic:

Hi All, Newbie here. I recently purchased an 04 T4R v8 4x4 with 190k miles. The timing belt was done at a Toyota dealership at 150k, paid $6k. Interior is clean paint on the roof is peeling a bit but structurally seems fine. one owner car, Carfax has one accident on it that occurred when the truck had 5k miles on it that was a front impact, one of the fenders was replaced and the grill had broken tabs which I replaced. How did I do?

It needs tires but aside from that is all good. I just installed a Daystar budget boost front leveling kit last night and am getting some 265/70 Falken Wildpeak AT3W later this week. That will probably be it for mods at the moment.

This will be a budget build car that gets used to haul things around, tow trailers when needed but also see some light offroading once in a while.

Finally pulled the trigger!

Howdy all,

After getting 3 feet of snow dumped on me last winter, I finally was able to convince the wife that something 4WD was absolutely required.
We live up in the Sierra Foothills on the way to Tahoe, so snowy mountain roads are a regular thing in winter. Up until now, it hasn't been that bad... but this last winter, sheesh... got snowed in for over a week.

So I start researching which vehicle would fit the bill, and after about a decade of google-fu, reading reviews, watching youtubes, etc... I decided to go 4Runner. I'm used to hummers from when I was in the Marines, but can't swing one price wise.
It took about a month of looking, but I was able to nail down a sweet deal on a 2016 Trail with 15k miles, and got approval... now she's all mine! Literally it's indistinguishable from brand new, minus the smell.

I'll be using this beautiful beast not as a daily driver (except in winter), but for hauling lumber from Home Depot, going out into the forest to shoot, mostly recreation.

I'm hoping I'll find lots of advice here on the best roof rack to add on, and possibly some extra lights.

Hi All! About to Join the club!

Hi All-

About to join the club and doing some research. Torn between a few options.

Love the looks of the (2020) TRD Pro. Trying to determine if I want to go bigger in a few years if I would be wasting my money on the TRD Pro vs. Lifting & Customizing a SR5 or even a TRD Offroad Prem and using the savings for that stuff (lift, boards, bumpers maybe).

Do the added costs of the TRD Pro get thrown out if you do additional suspension changes, or would I get to keep most of it?

Probably wouldn't add the lift until the factory warranty wears out...

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hello from LA! Been lurking on here for a few days now. Seems like a great community. Been on here looking for some ideas of what I may want to do to my 5th Gen once I get it.

Haven't purchased it yet, but looking to get a 2020 Army Green TRD Pro (if I can find one), and been on here seeing what kind of mods to get.

Looking forward to sharing my build as well!

Cheers!
Papa
