Since I wouldn't ever drive the FJ60 in MN winters with salted roads, I sold it and picked up a 2019 TRD ORP (+KDSS, +Sunroof) earlier this month.
Initial safety mods will be:
- Replacing the absolutely sh***y OEM Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 tires. Blizzak DM-V2 tires, TPMS, and 2nd set of wheels ordered today for dedicated winters. Will replace the Dunlops with K02s come spring time. I'm appalled that Toyota would sell a TRD ORP 4Runner with such crappy OEM tires - I guess they got a terrific bulk price on them.
- Upgraded headlights and foglights
- Front bumper upgrade. I had an ARB on my FJ60 and hit a ~125+ pound doe at 70mph (jumped out from the roadside less than 20 feet in front of me in the middle of Nowhere, NB). The ARB headlight loop was tweaked about 1/4" but that was the extent of the damage and I drove the rest of the way to MN that night.
Next up would be all weather floor and cargo area liners.
After that, we'll see what bubbles to the top of the wants list.
