Building Up

Started my build on a 2016 SR5. Recently put on a FR Slimline II rack and Greenlane rear ladder. Looking to pick up an OME front strut and rear coil kit, will eventually throw 285s on a set of SCS F5s.

Hello Folks!

New to the forum, currently do not own a 4Runner, never have but I am in the market for one. While I like the classic look of the older 3rd Gen, I'm also looking at the 5th Gen, for more room and the 4L V6. I've seen a couple of the 5th Gen Trail Series w/KDSS available in my area, and am wondering if paying approx 25k for a vehicle with a 115-125k on the clock is a good investment, or am I better off going brand new, shelling out 40k and going in with no worries. Buying from a private owner, vs dealership, warranty, etc.

Prefer the former, but would like to know what folks think.

Thanks,

Matt

Kind of new to the forum

Hello all, evidentially I signed up a while ago and forgot. I just got a new to me 2003 Limited v8 4WD. And such I will be selling my 1989 SR5 project. But I look forward to making many new memories in the newer 4runner. And I have to say its nice to have a working A/C in it

Anyone know many posts it takes before you can start a topic? I've had an account here for a while. Had a 2014 Trail for the last 5 years but just now getting around to modding it up!

Picked up an 3rd Gen. Long story short, my Dad is turning 60 next year and has always want to do some weekend warrior and overland wheeling. So I picked this little nugget up. I am going to slowly build it this year and get it ready to wheel around ID, WA, OR, UT, CO, MT etc..

Wanted to join for the marketplace and knowledge/build threads on the forum.

Looking to start with armor/protection, then once confident in route of the suspension go either SAS or mild lift but quality suspension with small BL, then wrap it all up with work to the axles/overland gear.

Cheers

Joe

Sounds like a good plan! I'm also wanting to start building mine, got a couple leaks I need to track down first though.

Thank you!

I am not sure if the one I bought has any yet, if it does I will have to fix them up before starting like you.

Luckily I was able to pick it up with relatively low miles 184k and the original owner did all the maintenance like clock work, so we will see once it runs through the shop for safety at the my Toyota store. I have my fingers crossed.

Good luck with the build good sir and fixing those little issues.

Hi I am nile1941 and I own a 2000 4runner limited 2wd with the v6 3.4 engine. I live in North Carolina. I am married 20 years now with 8 beautiful kids. I want to do some work on my 4runner, of course on a budget. I want to convert the rear brakes to disc brakes and I want to install the TRD supercharger and the TRD headers. I did find the upgrade info on the front brake conversion helpful and I will be doing that soon. I do have an issue with the rear suspension where it is too soft and I can feel every bump in the road. It has been that way since I have owned it. I have had it check numerous times at the dealer but they always say that it is fine. Everything on my rig is stock no mods. Any input would be great.

Thanks

New 4runner owner here! Just picked up my black 2020 ORP, added some TRD Pro Wheels and tinted the windows. Looking forward to figuring out what my next mod will be!

Red face Hello everyone!

Hey, glad to be here. I am the very proud owner of a ‘95 4Runner SR5. Got her two years ago and she now clocks in at 162k miles. She definitely is a survivor, Chicago isn’t too kind to vehicles in the winter but she looks great and runs even better! 25 years old now, Toyota knows how to build them. Would live to post some pictures of her but not sure how. If anyone could offer advice I would appreciate!
Thanks, Clayton

Hello all, new to Toyota and 4x4s. I just picked up an 06 Limited shadow Grey Mica about 2 weeks ago. It had 220k when I picked it up. This is my daily driver. My other vehicle is a Hellcat Charger. I’m a longtime performance head but I like the feeling of being high up and calm driving. I also enjoy MTB so this is much easier for me to lug around my bike than the charger. I’m new to Toyota myself but my Dad has had a couple. He had a 98 Tacoma he bought brand new then traded it in @ 280k for a brand new 2011 at the time. He still has the 2011 to this day. So far I have just plasti dipped the factory wheels but I have some big plans for this baby. If you’re on reddit you may have seen me post there too. I’m looking to get as much knowledge from the Toyota community as possible. Thanks for reading!

Here’s the new girl:

Hello from KC, just picked up a 2016 Limited because I needed the third row. Owned Jeeps in the past but this is my first 4Runner.
