Yeah this one has more than I'd like, but I'm not sure what needs to be done. Going to post some rusty pics soon!

Yeah. I’m currently shopping and trying to find out what I should look out for. I’m a Jeep guy(I know, shame me) but I totaled my wrangler a week ago. So now I’m in the market for something. I never thought I’d find a 4Runner for less than $3k in decent shape. I’m thinking something must be wrong.

What are these lines. Please Help!
Hi Everybody
I am new to this forum, previously I have used this forum a lot for troubleshooting. However this time I just couldn't find a related post. I have a 4th gen 2004 4Runner SR5 V6 1GR-FE with no mods. Recently was looking down into the engine bay and I found a couple of corroded lines (I have attached the pictures along with this post). I couldn't figure out which system these lines belong to. I peeked into the engine bay from underneath the radiator and found wherever the metal tubes extended out of the hose they had corroded extensively. I wanted to identify these tubes first before deciding whether it was safe to be driving the truck in this condition.
The lines emanate from the top of the front driver side wheel arch as a Nylon and Rubber hose and then steel lines come out of the hose which have badly rusted.

Need Help with Catalytic Converter replacement 2004 V6
Hi Everybody
I'm new to this forum, I have been using this forum since 2017 but I could find mos to of the stuff I needed in other posts but this one is a bummer.
Basically I need to replace my rear left cat code P0420 but decided to have both rear CATs replaced. I need to do this by this September. I have researched a bit I was initially hoping on having Bosal or Magnaflow to have something in accordance with NY stipulations. But unfortunately couldn't find anything. I did another search on RockAuto and only found AP emissions are C.A.R.B. compliant. The parts are priced around ~ half of OEM CATS 17410-31380, 17450-31010 which is favorable. Problem is I read around the forum and other places that even Bosal and Magnaflow sometimes don't last over 2/3 years and in some cases CEL comes back on due to lack of sufficient precious metal in the CATs. I don't want to be in that boat and end up using a simulator for the CEL. I have also heard that after market brands do have early defects which lead leaks after just a couple of years. What is your advice in this situation would you recommend I go with OEM ~1500 from McGeorge toyota and have peace of mind or are there any reliable aftermarkets which are NY/CARB compliant and would last reasonably long (5-6 years) and wouldn't turn on the CEL. Appreciate the advice and expertise and thanks in advance!

Time for an introduction. Been lurking and finally bought my 2020 SR5. Already got the lift, rims, tires, and the slippery slope has started!
Thanks for all the information. This forum is great.

converting from domestics
Possible new onwer soon.
Hard core, long time domestic advocate; just got fed up with my 3rd Ram issues. My Mustang is not exactly doing well either.
Switching my vehicles to Toyota, the woman wants a hatchback (from a mustang, that speaks volumes) and I am leaning towards a 4Runner.
My first interaction with the local Toyota dealer has been absolutely amazing and puts all GM/Ford/Ram dealers to shame. I wish I knew about this much earlier in life.
Let's see where this road goes after a lifetime of domestics !
Cheers.

Hi everyone. New here too. I guess I missed this new member intro thread and I posted my first post on an actual thread, but it was also related to the lift thread so I hope no one gets upset.
Like many of you, I’ve also been looking around here for a while getting information and everyone’s experiences with 4Runners. We got our 2015 Magnetic Grey SR5 in September 2019. It’s our first Toyota vehicle. So far we’ve loved it! Our two dogs also love it! Already taken a lot of camping trips and adventures and many more to come.
It’s awesome to be able to come hear, read other people’s ideas, see pics of sweet projects that I drool over, and have opportunities to meet some nice people.
I’ll be adding pics later and more details of mods that I’ve already done.

First 4runner
Just picked up my first 3rd Gen 4Runner. I’ve owned Toyota’s the over the last 15 yrs or so. But this is my first 4Runner. It’s got issues, but I’m sure the members can answer questions that come up that I can’t figure out.

I’m new here as well. I have a 2013 SR5.
I signed up to get opinions on tires then purchased some BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02s in LT265/70R17 load C. Solid tire and really no noise at all.
Next I need a battery, dealer pushing a fuel inducement cleaning, etc.

Luckily I was able to pick it up with relatively low miles 184k and the original owner did all the maintenance like clock work, so we will see once it runs through the shop for safety at the my Toyota store. I have my fingers crossed.
Good luck with the build good sir and fixing those little issues.

Nice! Sounds like you found a good one. Mine isn't in nearly as good condition as yours sounds. Mechanically it's pretty sound, cosmetically no so much.

Welcome to the forum. Those tires look really nice my last pair were the KO2s, 10 ply. Did their job pretty good and some. Did you complain to your dealer about mileage o any other unusual issue ... any reason for them to suggest Fuel Injection System cleanup. Usually it is a good idea to get it cleaned up once in a while but did they notice something about the car.. just curious. Usually I ask them to include throttle body cleanup and Mass AirFLow Sensor Cleanup. And I make sure they update that on CARFAX. ALso make sure they are using a throttle body cleaning liquid not just some brake cleaner fluid. Also ask them to give you a look around while they are on the job with the throttle body exposed. Sometimes people using K and N filters leads to excessive oil build ups.
Battery is entirely different thread in itself are you looking for a dual setup?
How much offroading more specifically overlanding are you going to do. Answer depends on that. Also climate?
