Hello all,

I’ve been a forum reader for a while but never posted. Usually just cruise through looking at other builds to help narrow down what I think I want to do to my own 4Runner. Anyways, love seeing the builds and borrowing ideas.

The New Guy

Hello everyone, I made the crazy decision of selling my pristine and slightly modified 2014 Tacoma double cab TRD Off Road with 86k for a 2007 4runner SR5 4wd V8 with 97k . The truck was paid off, and I got the 4runner for a decent price considering the situation and times we live in.

The point was to provide more interior room for the fam (Wife, 13yr old, and German Shepard) for camping trips. we typically go dispersed camping in the national forest and do some mild wheeling during our trips. the trail around here can be pretty tight and the Tacoma's paint and overall condition made me re-think taking it wheeling. so long story short I decided v8 4runner 06-09 and of course 4wd. with improve room, shorter wheelbase, towing, and capability, I knew it would be a vehicle to enjoy! Let the build begin!

I do as much of the work myself (98%), first on the list was to catch up all maintenance which meant a timing belt, new cv boots (old inners were ripped), all fluids, misc things like lighting ect, ect. Still awaiting my Dobinson's IMS suspension so I can mount my new wheels and tires (33"). Maybe I will do a build thread, but I've already missed out on a lot of picture opportunities.

Anyways, Hi. I can here for the great information that I know was here just from being a member @ TacomaWorld. Thanks for all you do!!!

Hey 4Rlove,
In casual everyday driving can you really feel a difference in the V8 vs the V6 in your Tacoma?

ABSOLUTELY, yes. it is a very noticeable difference in the pedal feel, ease of accelerating, and smoothness of the engine. I'll never go back to a v6 for a midsize vehicle if it's naturally aspirated. I've always though Toyota's were underpowered and the 4.0 v6, although a great engine lacks power and isn't the smoothest or quietest either. The mid-size vehicles are just too heavy for it.

I haven't had a chance to tow with it yet, but I have taken it on a few interstate trips, with the cruise control on, my Tacoma would have downshifted like crazy through the big hills on one of my 60-minute trips. the 4runner never had to! The v8's aren't power monsters by any means, and truthfully aren't that much more powerful than the 4.0, but more torque and being accessible in the lower RPM range makes a huge difference.

Greetings from South Florida

Hello All, I am a new 4Runner owner. I picked up a used 2016 SR5 with 105k and truly loving it. As the title says, I live in the south florida area and will have to travel aways to do some trails. And I can't wait. Already put bigger tires and making it my own. I look forward to meeting new people in the area and getting out there. Thanks all.

New Member coming over from the Jeep community. Dont get me wrong, I still love jeeps and will forever regret selling 1995 wrangler that I fully rebuilt but I absolutely love my new runner. I have recently purchased a 2007 Limited with 50k Miles for a screaming deal. Yes, this post is made Nov. 2020 and the 2007 has 50k original miles. Anyway, excited to be apart of the community.

Any thoughts?
Since the TRD Pro is extremely capable from factory, I'd recommend upgrading lighting. Specifically stealth light-bar behind the grill. I think hey look awesome and add to the aggressive look.
