New from MN

First ever Toyota. Came from a long history of GMs. I’ve had my share of heartbreaks and good vehicles with them. The time finally came when I sold my Silverado and bought a 2013 4Runner Trail. Very happy with it so far. Don’t plan on modding it too much. Likely a Bilstien 5100 leveling kit that I had on my Silverado. Within the first week I put on the PRO wheels and KO2s. Looking forward to learn a lot from you experienced runners.

Annapolis (Naptown) 4Runner

Hey everybody, Just saying Hi after lurking for a while.
I bought a 2020 TRD ORP in white in April 2020 after donating my 1994 80 (230k miles) series to charity. I think I'll always miss that truck! Had lots of fun with the Gotham City Land Cruisers over the years.
Very happy with the T4R though! Not many mods so far ... Plasti-dipped the silver paint black, added some grill lights, and ordered a roof rack from SSO.
My son is simultaneously modding a hand-me-down 2005 GX470 with 245,000 miles on it.
Anyone in the Annapolis area give me a shout and we can do trucks and coffee socially distanced.

Brian

Welcome Brian. Love Annapolis and the surrounding areas. Miss the Bay and Wye River. Best of luck on your build.

Hi....help! Wiring Diagrams!

Accidentally installed an "02 rear hatch on my 1996. I would have known the part fits but the wiring is different had I checked the posts...anyone have a wiring diagram for the rear hatch on the 1996-1998 4Runner Limited?

First car 2004 4Runner

Aloha! Looking forward to learning and getting a ton of advise for my sons 2004 2wd SR5 runner. His First car and of course it must be lifted with new tires and wheels. I’ll post pics of our progress once we decide which set up we’re going to install. Any advise with similar projects would be greatly appreciated!
Aloha!

Hi guys! New member here. I just picked up a 2015 TRD Pro two days ago and can't wait to go try it out. The poor thing is stock but that'll change over time. See you around.

New member, was hoping to post some good 4th gen 4Runner hacks like the perfect center console safe for $40 or how to put led fog lights in your arb bumper for nothing but I guess I’ll wait 14 more posts lol

04 V8 Dethreaded spark plug need advice (New member)

So I bought this gem of a 04 V8 4x4 Limited off a dealer last spring. The thing was immaculate, no tears in the leather, no rust, no pealing clear coat, just an absolute beauty. It rocked 250k miles, but I was getting it for $5,000 US. Ran great all summer, no problems 10/10 loved my time with it up until August. I made a cross-country road trip from AZ to MI and about 200 mi outside Denver I got a check engine light with a light rumble that evolved to a serious rumble by the time I reached Denver. Upon the check engine light, I immediately pulled into a napa in rural CO and had the codes read. It was a misfire on cylinder 5 and the guy said I should be fine to Denver, It just needs to get a tune-up once I got there. Well, made it to Denver and a dealership informed me that the sparkplug port had dethreaded and ejected the sparkplug into the coil pack destroying both. The dealership drilled and sleeve the spark plug and it held up for about 3k miles to Northern Mi. Queue the check engine light and rumbling. Pulled into a rural shop and explained what had happened already and they basically said I needed to swap the entire engine because the sleeve from Denver didn't hold up. Well, that wasn't in the cards considering the time, money, and location. So thanks to the forums I found out that I could disconnect the injector so I didn't destroy the catalytic converter and try to limp it back to AZ. Well I made it, and it sat in my yard for a couple of months but now it is time to get the ball rolling. I took it to a shop earlier this week and they said the repair from Denver actually held and there was just oil build up on the sparkplug. He cleaned it up and it's running normally right now. I have a couple of options from here and I wanted to pick everyone's brain.

1.) The sleeve held up, don't do anything. Will I just need to clean the sparkplug every couple thousand miles and add extra oil to compensate for oil getting burned (this was pretty low, about 1q per 4000k mi)? How will this affect longevity, is it gonna nuke it in the next year or will it last with a couple of quirks for the near future?

2.) Swap the current head with a used head. I actually already bought a replacement head off a 2004 Tundra with 180k mi. The cost for this option would be about 3k between parts, labor, and surfacing the used head (might also need a rebuild). I've had mixed reviews about this option, some think it will be no problem, some think the oil build-up on the spark plug is the result of a stressed piston ring, some think the increased compression will nuke the bottom end. What do you guys think?

3.) Swap the motor. This is the worst-case scenario, I don't really have time or money to manage something so intensive. The quotes I have gotten are between 3-6k in labor, plus 1-4k for a motor that isn't guaranteed to last sounds terrifying. Plus, trying to find a reliable rebuilt or reman 2uzfe seems like a serious headache from what I've seen on the forums.

tl;dr - The previous owner cross-threaded a sparkplug, it ejected and destroyed my coil pack. Got it drilled and sleeved, drove another 3k mi and the same symptoms developed. Turns out it was just oil build up on the sparkplug. Not sure what I should do moving forward.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Just wanted to ask a question about roof racks.

I have a 2006 Limited, which has a sun roof. Most racks I'm seeing online are full length, and cover the sun roof.

Any suggestions or know of any specific rack that doesn't cover the sun roof opening? Thanks

Hey guys, I'm new and had a quick question

I just bought Bilstein 5100 shocks for the front and back for my 2006 Limited... I bought 17x8 TRD wheels, and 255/75R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs as well

My question is, how much lift do you get from the shocks alone? It says 2.5" max, but I've seen some debate over what is practical. I don't want a lot of lift, I just don't want my tires to rub
