Hello, and here's my problem
Hello all,
Im not new to the Toyota world, nor ownership of. I currently own a 2001 Sr5 2x4. Has been an awesome truck. My previous Tundra, T4R, Highlander, Camry, Corolla, Echo, Sienna, and Rav4s have all been trouble free and absolute dreams to own. Thats why I purchased this one. WRONG!! I'm the fourth owner and it currently has 294k on it. Everything has been going well until about 6 months ago. Since purchase, it had always had a very distinct "whistle" on accel. I scratched my head about it, as did the previous owners, because they went so far as to cut the tailpipe off trying to diagnose it. That lead to melted canister hoses, melted abs wires, etc. I have resolved that with a new muffler and tailpipe. It appeared as though someone had set off a 410 shell inside of the muffler. You couldn't see the small pinholes in it, only hear as you accel. Problem solved. Now I'm tracing a rough running interm. I have had a 1130 code since purchase as well. I replaced the front A/F sensor, as the code is for a failed heater circuit, and lean condition. It went away for two whole days. Came back. I started looking at other causes. Vacuum lines, (all replaced. Including the ones on the canister), new NGK plugs and wires. New injectors. Had bad accel, to the point of dying, and had knock sensor codes. I pulled intake the first time, put in new sensors and wiring harness, back together and all is fine. Week goes by and I drive vehicle to south FL to visit family, half way, BAM!! CEL, Poor accel and knock sensor code returns. My bad, I put in substandard knock sensors to save a buck. Never again, and I knew better!! So I removed intake, replaced with oem sensors, wiring harness isnt pinched, new intake gaskets ftom Toyota, and was fine for two whole days. Now I have 1130 code again, as well as p0300. No specific cylinders, only random multiple. I'm at a loss. I worked for Toyota at a dealership, in the service dept for 17 years, and this one has me stumped. Where do I go from here? I've rechecked everything I have done, no change. Ive checked for intake leaks, vacuum leaks. Changed plugs, wires, and coils again, no change. Hell, i even had the front cat changed as I thought of possible clogging situation, as I've seen that before. Ive exhausted my intellect on the issue and decided to reach out, before I take it somewhere and have to humble myself to someone else's diagnostic abilities. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. This is my daily driver and family vehicle. Like I've said, I stand behind Toyota and their reliability as well as dependability. This has stumped me. Thanks in advance.
Oh, and if ive posted in the wrong place or need to do so elsewhere, plz let me know. Im a lil old school and this is my first discussion group. ....EVER.
