New Owner from Hawaii.
Hi,
Thanks for having me to the group. I just purchased a 99 4runner off a buddy and had a chance to take it off road for the first time. Today, and it went great. I was a little worried it would not be as good off road as my 06 Jeep unlimited that I sold but it was great. Now I just gotta start looking at some off road tires and a mild lift since I plan on having it as daily driver.

Love this picture for both the body and the building!
Edit: I just realized that my reply wasn’t linked to the post in this thread that I was looking at, so here it is:

Hello!
Hello all. Long time 4Runner enthusiast and forum lurker here. I’ve enjoyed other members input and advice over the years. Thank you for your help! I look forward to being able to give back to the community someday if the opportunity arises for me to offer advice and ideas that haven’t already been given.
With that being said, a little about the 4Runners in my life. My first rig was a black ‘89 Runner 4WD with the 22RE. I miss taking the top off on nice days and running through the mud and sand.
I currently own three 4Runners. Two second gens and a fifth gen. Each of them are in a separate state of improvement. My kids are putting sweat equity into the two second gens as they are going to be their rigs. The fifth gen is my baby to abuse. My wife wants to stay in her Highlander world and occasionally complains about the number of 4Runners in our driveway. The banter never stops.
Rig dossier:
Artemis, ‘95 4WD SR5
Currently being stripped down for frame/body clean up and painting.
3.4 swap in progress
Wish list:
OME 2” suspension lift
33” A/T tires on custom wheels
ORS Conversion Performance Header
Addicted Off-road Plate Front Bumper with Warn Evo winch
Rock Sliders
Coastal Off-road high clearance rear plate bumper with spare wheel carrier
Custom full length roof rack
Custom engine hood with 24” wide scoop and integrated light bar
Corbeau suspension seats
Rear cabin drawers and bed platform
Snorkel
ARB rear diff and transmission breather manifold
ARB mounted compressor and “Wifey” mod.
Rocinante, ‘95 4WD SR5

31” M/S tires on OEM wheels
Warn winch bumper with Rough Country 9500S winch
Bilstein 4600 shocks
HD rear coils
Hella 500 x4
ARB rear diff and transmission breather manifold
Wish list:
Snorkel
Rock sliders
Tube bumper
Performance header
32” A/T tires on custom wheels
(To be named), ‘15 TRD Pro
4.0
295 70/R17 M/T tires on custom wheels
S&B cold air intake
Bilstein front coil over struts, rear remote reservoir shocks, and HD coils
Wish list:
Southern Style OffRoad Slimline Hybrid Front Bumper with 30” light bar
Warn EVO 12000S
GOBI full length roof rack with light bar
Rear HD bumper with wheel carrier

Fixing up a 1998 4runner
Love the 3rd gen body style. Managed to buy one as a kids car 4 years ago. The kids now have cars of their own, and I'm looking to fix mine up into my camping SUV. Just recovered the steering wheel. Next I have to find a parasitic draw that's been draining my battery.

Just purchased my first 2005 4Runner V8! Stoked to pick it up and build it out! Im looking to start with tires & lift pretty quickly then manifold and exhaust before the end of the year. Any suggestions? Its going to be a daily still so nothing overly crazy but still want it to be capable off roading, towing doesn't matter thinking 2-3 in lift

Hey, been lurking for years. most of my questions have been asked before, and I've never really ended up having to start any new threads. Have had multiple toyota pickups through the years, a couple samurais, and 3rd, 4th, and now a 5th gen 4runner. This site has been an invaluable source of information throughout the years.

Heyya I’m Ana, I bought an 01 a couple months ago. I did have a 98 but got totaled in a tbone accident. Pretty much just on here to get mod ideas for the 01, it looked like a city mom car when I bought it so I’ve been changing things tryna get it better equipped for my off-roading.

Hey everyone, excited to join the forum! I'm a long time GM owner, and put my down payment 2 weeks ago on a new 2021 4Runner.
My current vehicle is a 2006 Trailblazer with 275k miles on - had a good run, and still hanging on, so will keep for running to the dump, etc. Was really pleased with reliability (maybe I got lucky). This will be my first Toyota, but was drawn to it by the reliability ratings and sold during the test drive.
I live in the mountains of Southwest VA, so I spend plenty of time on fireroads getting to trailheads, but haven't done any *real* off-roading. At least not yet!

first post! i'm registering here because my '04 Toy 4Runner hit water on the fwy and hydroplaned
the rear-end hit the center divide pretty hard and the insurance company rated it a total loss : (
but here's the thing... a couple years ago i replaced the engine - and just last year i put in a toyota-refurbed transmission ---- so i just put a sizeable investment into it and now my 4R is totalled
total bummer
i would *like* to offer the engine and transmission for sale to the members here - they've both got a LOT of life left in them!
i hope that's alright with the mods here
??
in the meantime... yeah, i'm looking for another 4runner!
((this time 4WD))
