Hi everyone. I'm a relatively new 4Runner owner. We moved from South Africa to Canada in 2019 and I switched from driving a LR Defender 130 to a 2016 Toyota 4R Ltd. Its a great vehicle and my wife wanted the comforts of the ltd since its our daily drive. If it was up to me I would have gone base SR5 and done it the way I want...
So! We are planning a 4 week overland trip across Canada at the end of summer and I'm doing a bit of research on what I'd like to get done to get it set up for the trip without blowing the bank. Beyond the rack, tent and storage I am looking at wheels, tires and suspension. I am pretty much set on the BFG KO2 275/70/R17 (might eventually go 285 but because its a Ltd its going to need more than a bit of trim in the wheel well), but I'm undecided on the wheels. I am looking at the FUEL Vector 17x8.5 +7mm or the 17x8.5 -12mm but have questions/concerns with the BS and position of the outside face in relation to the arch as well as the centre bore.
The +7mm offset looks like it's going to be an inch or so wider than factory/std on the outside of the wheel but still inside the wheel well. BS is 5.03" as opposed to 4.5" but it looks okay?
The -12mm offset version brings me back to the factory BS of 4.5" but it's going to be protruding past the arch and is a good 2" wider on the outside of the wheel. It might look great but too much and the tire won't clear the arch at full flex and it's also going to constantly throw stones/mud etc against the side. (I love a dirty truck as much as the next guy but its sure to ruin the paint). I guess the question is how much is too much and does anyone have any advice?
Lastly, the CB is 108mm on both versions and the hub is 106mm. Is this going to be an issue? I understand the Fuel Vector wheel is not hubcentric but does that mean the lug nuts have to be tapered to centre the wheel and torqued a certain way? Has anyone experienced vibration or any other issues?
I'd really appreciate some advice.
Cheers
1 down, 14 to go.

Are used 5th gens selling for more than new ones? Just wondering because car sites have my car valued about 8k more than I paid almost 2 years ago.

Hi all
New member as from today 23/05/21
Just bought my first 4Runner V6 SRD5 2006 2WD but as Scotty says it’s a good car so that was good enough for me.
I’m British but escaped the rat race and settled in Gambia West Africa.
The truck was exported from USA to here it should be a great vehicle for the bad roads in the rainy season 🤞🤞 my dream car is a Land Cruiser but funds don’t reach that high so I get 2 nd best a baby Land Cruiser.
Looking forward to learning lots on here, hopefully.

Why no BSM on 2021? It can’t be a capability issue and must be by design. Makes no sense to. E.

a few lame pics will have to suffice....

New to 4x4
Hi all,
I'm about to buy a new 2021 4Runner Off Road w/ KDSS tomorrow, and being new to the 4x4 world and 4runners in particular I wonder if someone here can help me with some questions.
• It will come with the default factory tires. I want to replace them to all terrain all weather tires (KO2?). Any recommendation? (got an offer from the dealership for BF Goodrich LT265/70R17 Tire, All-Terrain T/A KO2 - 10892 for 327 each, not sure if they are good and worth the money)
• Do I need to replace the extra tire?
• I've got also an offer from the dealer to install the TRD PRO skid plate for around 600$. Should I do it or get another one?
• Should I replace the shocks or wear my current ones first? If replace, which one would you recommend and is there an aftermarket for the old ones? I know that I shouldn't really lift it more than a couple inches with the KDSS
• Do I need any paint protection to avoid off road damage/scratches?
• What else would you recommend install as soon as possible?
Sorry for the million newbie questions, I'm going to buy it tomorrow and want to be done with everything from the dealership in one go (I live about an hour drive from it).

Had a lot of fun getting her back to working condition and now it's time to start in with the mods.
Doubtful I'll ever go SAS with this thing but looking forward to getting her dirty. Here's a pic of her. Added some KC fogs to the front since I took this one. More to come!

Hi, bought my 1995 4runner in 1996 with 19,000 mile on it and it still looks great.
Has 134,000 on it now and I am still just as proud. Looks just like the gold one up at the top of the page! I have a problem at the moment with it but instead of asking here, I am going to figure this forum out and do some searching first. Thanks for all you all do in sharing, caring and giving!
Happiness & Joy
