As far as I know, the trans is original, the motor was replaced around 200k but I think the one they put in had about the same number per the previous owner. It'll last that long if ya take care of it!

One of those FNGs(new guy)
Hey what's up,
New guy here from Southern CA.
Got a 93 4runner 3.0L manual 4x4 that I'm trying to get reliable enough to periodically bring me far away into the wilderness and away from all the crazy lunatics in the city and closer to normal people like Sasquatch. I'll be needing some help with that so I'd like to hit my minimum post count quick. Got some EGR system problems that the Hanye's manuel or online FSM aren't helping with, so any advise on that is much appreciated.
Also got a 98 4Runner 3.4L auto 2WD just to move the family around.
Thanks

New member here with a 2018 TRD Off-Road Premium, seeking advice on which style front bumper to get- full steel plate or hybrid tube design.
Specifically choosing between the C4Fab Hybrid with Full Bull Bar and Overland with Full Bull Bar.
Curious if anyone has gotten one style or the other and regretted it? Any snow/mud/dirt accumulation issues with either?

Thats awesome man, If I can just make it to 200k on the original motor and trans ill be pretty psyched! I am thinking I may upgrade the stock suspension when I am in there replacing the CV boots. I dont want to lift it high enough to need a serious suspension overhaul, but a small 2" lift or so would be nice to maybe fit a little bigger tires and give a little more ground clearance.

I keep seeing people mention the term "trail ready"
Im sure that means different things to different folks, but are there some entry level mods/upgrades that people consider necessary to be "trail ready"

Stoked
Long time reader first time posting, adding the Roger Brown body lift this Holliday weekend for an additional 1.5" of lift and more space to tool around under the cab. Just finished painting pucks black and soaking body mount bolts with penetrating oil. Took a before pic. Yheew 🤙

My question, I hate that I can't automatically lock doors key fob if a door is open. Had many vehicles before and this idiot feature is annoying, my Corolla or Camrys in the past didn't do this. Any work arounds ?

Why do you hate the feature? I find it very helpful in case the rear hatch or a door on the other side of the vehicle wasn't closed all the way and don't realize it. It tells me "Someone didn't get there door closed all the way" before I walk away.
I think if you were to close a door that's been locked, the lock might be damaged if it hits the bar in the door jam when you tried to close it.

First if you haven't yet, do the boring stuff. Do a full run through of the car to make sure all the basics are working correctly.
After that you can start getting into the pie. I'd first suggest suspension lift, good all terrains (KOA2), rock sliders, and a good air compressor for filling up those new tires and some sort of recovery system.
With that I'd say your rig will be more than ready for whatever the trails throw at you!
Hope this helps!

3rd gen rubber mud flaps
Anyone know if they have or has anyone modded rubber mud flaps on a 3rd gen like there are on the older models?
Planning on rock sliders soon and those hard plastic mud flaps are right in the way!

This is helpful, thanks for the response man. When you say an air compressor, do you mean an onboard type system? Or something like those Viair 450p portable type deals that you can tote from vehicle to vehicle?

For sure!
After tons of research I'm about to pull the trigger on a
"Smittybilt 2781 5.65 CFM Universal Air Compressor"
Has the potential for being portable, mounted inside vehicle, or under the hood.
There are better ones out there but IMO this one is a nice compromise between performance, flexibility, and price.

FYI if your not going to mount it inside hood and on a budget, you can save 2/3 the cost by buying a portable compressor from harbor freight. Decent quality but Lifetime warranty/ free exchange...

I like the smittybuilt one that you linked and its a little cheaper than the viair one. Ill have to do some research on how long it takes to air up some 265's. Id like to buy a decent one just so it doesnt quit on me when I need it most, so probably wont go the harbor freight route.
