Greetings To All Y’all From NC
1st post, hello to everyone at T4R.org.
I have a 2008 with 226,000 miles, and a 2022 Off Road Premium with only 2600.
We’re on the road in the ‘22 and so far have spent $150 to reset all the warning lights because I put a locking gas cap on before we left and will spend some more when we get home to replace the broken windshield Otherwise, all is well!
Wishing everyone a great Independence Day
Cheers

Hello T4R. I've been a member of other 4Runner forums (4x4wire, Yotatech) since buying my '01 4Runner new.
Oddly, I signed up to T4R a few years ago (as AOW162435) but either missed or deleted the activation email. Despite numerous attempts to log on, ask other members for help, etc., I was never able to actually post here.
So I started a new account today and look forward to participating here.
Andreas

Why not just replace the CV boots?

I am planning to replace the CV boots, they have already been ordered through Toyota. Suppose to come in early this week.
Also considering a suspension upgrade while i'm in there for the CV boots though. Having trouble deciding how much money I want to throw at suspension. Seems I can get a pretty nice Icon or Fox 2.5 setup, both with UCA's for around 3k. Similar King setup would be $3500. But I had an Old Man Emu kit on my old Tacoma and never really had any complaints about that setup. I mostly just drive forest roads, desert washboard and some camping. So no long desert runs at high speed or anything.

3.4 V6 Engine Knock?
Hey everyone,
New to the forum and am trying to diagnose what I think is likely rod knock. I've attached a quick video of the engine at idle. The knocking noise is especially loud when the engine is cold. Once it heats up a bit it quiets down but still seems louder than the "Toyota Tick" I've seen people post about.
I've taken it to a transmission place and determined that is not a cracked flexplate. Another mechanic said the noise is coming from the engine and a rebuild/engine swap will be needed.
I just purchased the 4runner and had it inspected by a mechanic before purchasing....but here we are. I'm thinking its somewhat of a lost cause, but am hoping it might the lifter ticking.
Im located in the Bay Area and have received a quote from Yodaman in Santa Rosa for a rebuilt engine and it was $8,500 which is more than id be able to afford.

New member from Georgia here. Bought a 2022 Trail SE in Lunar Rock. So far I have a Toytec 3 inch lift, 285 70 17 BFG K0's on 8.5 X 17 inch wheels with a -6 offset. Not unexpectedly encounter rubbing everywhere including on the drivers side frame member. Installed 1 1/4 spacer which took care of that. Trimmed the front bumber a bit and now that is good. Truck goes in on Saturday for a body mount chop. Have done some little things like LED interior lights, Fishbone Offroad hitch cover, rear cargo mat, TRD CAI, catch can, drop diff mount, drop sway bar mount, and Pedal Commander. I think that is about it. Ride quality sucked when I got it. Much better improved now. Pics when I get a chance.

So just doing this 15 times seems like a waste and makes you wonder why the requirement....

Joined the club 7-1-22. Silver ORP. She won't look like this for long, but I wouldn't mind if she did!

Greetings
Bought a 2006 4Runner sport in white. All stock. I plan to replace the radiator, water pump, lower control arms, and all the fluids in the next few months, along with obvious things like the brake pads and spark plugs.
162k. After that work I’m hoping to take her close to 300.
Joining because I have a sunroof & dome light issue I need a little guidance on. And I’m sure other stuff will come up

Before and after wheel well heights and overall pics coming soon...
