Swapped out the silver front and rear valence

6 of 15? Love the blacked out look, but f**ck those while plastic clips were a ***** getting out in the front

Echo mode? Really?

7 of 15… why did Toyota even bother to put that feature on a 4Runner? Kinda silly for a thirsty ride

Came from a 2010 tundra to a 2022 4Runner. Tech changes in 12 years

8 of 15 Hate the lane beeping, turned that off quick. Like the smart cruise control though.

Seatbelt beeping

9 of 15? Got the Bluetooth thingy that allowed me to hack the CPU so I could delete that driver side feature. Don’t have to buckle up after picking up the mail and driving up a long driveway

TRD rock rails

Found some OEM rock rails. Posted the good news on FB as rock sliders. One dude had to correct me that these are "rails" not sliders. Dude, chill out

TRD roof rack on FB market place

12 of 15 got a great deal from a guy locally that was putting a full sized rack for a tent. Wish I was younger and had time to do serious overlanding

Lunar Rock

13 of 15? Lost count.

Have a Luner Rock. Love how it looks. Had a black tundra before this, got tired of cleaning it. This one hides the grime much better.

Lunar Rock? WTF? Is this the color of rocks on the moon? Not complaining tho, cool name

Halogen to LEDs

14 of 15 everyone is flashing highs at me at night. Guess I need to drop the beam a little. Clockwise or counter clockwise…. Guess I’ll search somewhere

15th post, forum admin give me 100% access please

I’m not a bot, spammer, or an ahole, some might disagree on that last one, but I’ll be polite. Unless I get roasted for calling the TRD rock rails rock sliders and some calls me a mall crawler… then I might fight back…

Glad to me part of this community.

Hello

Hello. New here but not new to 3rd gens. I’ve owned many 2wd sr5’s throughout the years and I love them with a passion. I’ve utilized this forum for a long time, so thank you to everyone who takes the time to make writeups etc. It’s helped me a lot. I just purchased a truck I’ve wanted for a long time so I figured I’d finally join and document the vehicle while I modify/upgrade it. It’s a 99’ 4wd 5 speed sr5. I searched for 6 months before I found the right one so I’m very stoked to start working on it. Once I meet minimum posting requirements, I will start a build thread for the vehicle. Thanks for reading. ~ Austin

Butterflies, dammit!

So, I bought a Gen 3 that had been slowly melting into the driveway for a year or three. Crank/no start mystery, for sure.

I am ready to give this truck my full attention, so I thought I would seek out the Hive Mind that is this forum, and I hope that in the fullness of time I will be able to give back as good as I get.

You may guess from my screen name that I am a woodworker and cabinetmaker, so I won't be as useful at first, but I learn well.

My only complaint about the 4Runner I bought is that the lady I got it from was maybe a little too fond of butterflies.

Butterfly seat covers, butterfly stickers everywhere. It's actually sort of comical, so I have been wondering if I will remove all those decals after I resurrect that beast, or leave 'em be, just to freak out the locals.

Anyway, more will be revealed as the Dalai Lama says . . .

Thanks for having me aboard!

John

Hey guys,

New to the group! Got myself a '98 SR5 with a rear elocker (unfortunately salvage title) in September of last year, haven't really been using it and kind of been fixing it up / undoing the mistakes the previous owner did. Hoping to get some mild off-roading done this summer. Mainly gonna be using it for camping and traveling than crawling.

Glad to be here
