Hello from Raleigh, NC. The wife just handed down my 2005 4Runner Sport after she upgraded(?) to a 4-door sedan. Looking forward to checking out all the upgrades and making my list.

Saying HI, I am about to purchase my first 4runner (a build project). My T4R has no engine and no wheels or tires. So I will be building it from ground up. Myself I am a veteran of the Marine Corps and Army, that is from Lousyana, but currently living in Washington state. I am on here from advice on my build when i purchase in the next couple of weeks. I am thinking about putting a 4.3l v6 vortec engine in T4R. What do you guys thinks.

New to the T4R family. Sold my Tundra this week, and before that my 01 Tacoma. Excited to learn and build!

After a couple of years looking I finally pulled the trigger and got an 08' Sport Edition. My wife has had a 00' limited since she was 16 and I've always been envious but never got one for myself. Pretty excited about joining the T4R family!

One quick question... Any suggestions on a snowboard rack that can hold a few boards and ski's? Most threads I've looked at point to the Yakima Fatcat 6 as a viable option for sheer ease of use and minimal noise while driving. I go up to WV enough to warrant a roof rack for the extra space so anything in particular I would need to know before purchasing would be great.

But what can we expect for a 76 years old man retired for 17 years as mechanical engineer with some inclination on cars and other paraphernalia?

I am working on my neighbor across the street, he has a 1995 4Runner and we get code 71 (EGR problem).

I have Snap on Scanner MT2500 but not the cartridge for OBD1 or whatever is that this car uses, so i relay on paper clip to see codes.

I know some basics but I a looking for a very detailed description of the actuators and sensors and valves, etc (all components of the EGR system) to see if I can solve his problem.
I it is a V6 engine and I have changed the head gaskets for him last year

What will help me is a good pictorial diagram (on the hood is gone) and a good explanation on the operation of the whole system.

So far I have determined that the EGR moves OK but no vacuum to its port from the EGR systems

Would appreciate a suggestion of any different would help

Howdy folks!

Back in 1996, my dad bought himself one hell of a birthday present... a fresh Evergreen SR5, leather seats, gold trim. At the ripe age of 9, I had many memories of growing up with that truck. I hoped that one day she would be mine... and that day came true. I drove her through college and took her on many adventures.

Sadly, one day I had to watch her get hauled away. The brakes froze up and I smashed her into the back of a Hyundai. The damage was minimal and I wanted to restore her, but the insurance company and crooked body shop won the battle. She was gone. I dreamt of the day I could find, and afford, another truck just like her.

Almost 10 years later, that day finally has finally come. I drove 3 hours to find a 1996 White Limited and knew it was the one. 20 years old, 250k miles, not a spec of rust. Immaculate condition. I never thought I would find one this perfect.

So begins the transformation. The truck will no longer spend its time commuting through the DC metro traffic, and will instead be a launch vehicle for many solid adventures. The cargo area that once held groceries and paperwork, but will now hold climbing, paddling, and rescue gear.

End of dramatic introduction. I am excited to document my build on this forum. Some of the trucks on the site have already began to serve as some awesome inspiration.
