2 4Runners in our driveway.
Think I'll be here a lot. Came from Tacomaworld. I had a 2016 Tacoma but had to say goodbye to it. The wife had a Mazda CX5, loved the mileage, but didn't like the lack of room or drive height.
Got the wife a 4Runner about two months ago and then when I had to turn in my Tacoma, I got a 4Runner as well. The 4R rides so much better than the Taco and the mileage isn't that much of a difference the way I drive. So far, I freakin' love the 4Runner. Its a lot more comfortable ride, quieter ride, seats much more comfy and the seat height is so much better. I do miss having the truck, but I have a trailer for hauling stuff anyway.
So we have a silver 2016 and a white 2017. Both 4x2 and both back cloth interior with the Entune Premium or whatever the one with built in Nav is called. She liked the silver better so that's hers and I drive the white. About the only difference is hers has some slide out shelf thing in the back, I don't like it but it was a hell of a deal on that one and the wife likes it.
I'm getting the TRD SEMA rims and BFG KO2 (bro setup) for mine - the white. And looking to get the "Trail" rims for the wife and put the AT20s on those.
And I'll probably replace the interior lights with LEDs, but so far, the 4Runners have much better lighting on the interior than the Tacoma or the CX5, so might hold off on that for a while.
So if you're in Charleston, SC and see the Silver or White 4Runner with the front Euro Plates with the SC Flag - that's us!

Hi All,
My wife and I recently purchased a 2016 4Runner SR5 Premium. I have spent countless hours on this forum over the last 6-9 months or so as a lurker and have finally reached the point where it is time to start posting... mainly because 1) I have some questions, and 2) we figured a build thread would be a good way to document the work/upgrades we are doing.
She will probably be the one posting updates/pictures on our mods and trips... I will be the one asking questions while trying to figure out what I broke and how to fix it... so we chose a screen name appropriate for the 4Runner and not us. Serenity is a Firefly reference for the rest of the nerds out there... so don't read anything more than that into the name... with 4 kids, a dog, and a tendency to push a bit past our own limits, our journeys are usually anything but serene.
My background is in Jeeps and rock crawling. I have never done much work on my own vehicles (my jeeps were bought, not built), but I am slowly changing that. Starting this weekend, we are going from stock to not in preparation for a trip to Moab over Memorial Day. Hopefully we can get it all done and put back together in time ;)
I will probably post some questions soon (need to get my 15 posts in as soon as possible)...

I think SerenityNow! might have been better.

Hello Everyone,
Don't own a T4R yet, but I'm looking at them. I currently have a 16' Tacoma, and like it so much I kind of want a 4 Runner to go with it.
Look forward to lurking for awhile

New First Time 4Runner Owner From San Diego, CA
Hey everyone I started lurking since I purchased a new 4runner last week. This has been a great resource for questions and ideas so I am stoked to have found the forums.
My previous car was a Rav4. The wife and I looked at the 2017 Highlander vs a new 2016 4Runner as we wanted something bigger. We ended up buying the 3rd row seat package in Nautical blue. We both prefer the aggressive look of the Runner.
So far I purchased some Nerf side bars and tinted the front windows. I'm also checking out the forums for opinions on all weather mats..Husky, OEM or WeatherTechs?

fourth 4runner finally posting up!
Hello from Northern NH, just made a deal on an '04 Limited V8 with 80,000 one owner miles! Dealer is fixing exhaust manifold leak prior to me picking it up. The rest looks great. Trading in my '08 JK, which has been driving me nuts with an oil leak and lack of power! My wife and I have had a '96, an '05, a '98 and now this '04. One taco ('03) in the middle somewhere. Been checking out a few pages already on lifts etc, although I half promised myself not to go to crazy with this one.

Greetings from Milwaukee Wisconsin. I've been a 4runner fan since my old man got one to tow his track day car (91' BMW E30 ). Since then he retired from both work, and track days, and instructing them altogether. With the end of that era, also marked the end of the 4runner. It was an 06 4th gen limited. Tan pretty much inside and out. When I asked why he sold it, he said he didn't need it anymore. The next sentence that came out of his mouth was "it was the best car I've ever owned in my life." That's a hell of a statement considering the cars this old man has driven the past 60+ years. I took that statement as a sign that it was inevitable that I'd own a 4runner some day.
I fell in love with it the few times I drove it, and loved it even more when I got out and looked at it each time.
I've been on a regretful vw lease for nearly 3 years and it's finally coming to an end. Since my pops sold the 4runner before I could swoop it up, I'm browsing this forum, and soaking up as much info as I can before I make a purchase.
My budget is pretty much capped around 22k, which means I'm buying used. I have a fiance and a baby boy who is 10 months. I've also test driven a few other SUV offerings but they just seem to boring and for old ladies. Maybe it's just the way I'm programmed. I've always had to have cars that felt special; cars with character, often with a loyal fan base of owners who love em. I once had a 95 mr2 turbo. Prior to that it was a Toyota pickup. I've owned an Acura RSX and then a 1990 BMW E30. It's been all over the place. I'm 34 years old now. My Navy days are over. I've got a family and a steady job. If I'm getting a family friendly vehicle, it won't be a Murano or santa Fe or any other mini van posing as an SUV. Lol.
Just thought I'd post up with the details of why I'm here. Glad to be part of the community. I'll be making a purchase sometime this month. Likely the last week of May or first week of June.
Most likey 4th gen, but considering 5th gen also...but I won't open that can of worms here.
