Hi, my wife is the driver of our 99 limited. We bought it in 01 and she has just short of 275k on the od. I've done most of the maintenance myself and now figure it is time to breathe some life back into her. She has treated us very well. I've already found some useful info here and I'm sure I'll continue to do so.

Hello, just picked up a 2017 sr5 premium, this looks like a great resource! I don't see myself posting much but reading a lot. Quick question, did other new owners manuals and books come in some kind of a case? Mine were a lose pile in the glove box. Thanks!

Greetings from Australia!
Im an outdoor enthusiast, and a car nut!
Currently have a 2nd Gen 1990 4 Runner 'DX' trim level
2.8 Diesel, quite an easy thing to work on. (3x spanners)
430,000km original engine

Have my sights set on a 1993 import 'Surf' too, much more power, features, and lower km (180,000) 1KZTE (auto trans)

I'm hoping so. I was looking at XJs when my buddy said for the same price you can get a 4runner and so far I'm glad I did. Just being able to roll down the rear window was a selling point.

the aftermarket head unit also came with a jock jam cd, so that was fun to listen to for an hour and a half while driving back home with it.

I've done it again... bought another 4Runner!

Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum but an old fan of Toyota's having owned a couple of them now. I have 2 - 3rd Gen 4Runners in my garage...
2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (4x2) - stock with +- 245,000 miles
2000 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4WD - stock with +- 260,000 miles

Just recently aquired the Limited one as I wanted to get into Overlanding / 4x4'ing... but noticed a few interesting differences between them...

1. Oddly enough the SR5 tank seems to be around 13.5 gallons while the Limited is 15.5 gallons - anyone else notice that?
2. My SR5 has the engine check code for the torque converter about 2.5 years ago when I bought it - replacement job with labor cost +- $800 and man it runs nice now
3. My Limited seems to be very under powered / slow - lack of power and torque compared to my SR5 - I thought it was the weight difference with it having all the extra mechanical bits for the 4WD but I know its not that now after having compared them back to back (same fuel, tire pressures etc).
4. I also noticed that my SR5 has some missing pieces in the engine bay (it look like some kind of vacuum box by the fuse box - there is a pipe from the inlet manifold to this box on my Limited but on my SR5 it isn't there?)

Anyways as soon as my account is unlocked (once I reach my 15 posts requirement) I will do some posts on full comparisons between both vehicles... thanks.

Been lurking for quite awhile now and finally decided to sign up! Currently on the hunt for a low mileage 99-00 4runner. Finding some hits here and there, but since this will be the last vehicle I buy for quite a bit, want to make sure it's the one I really want and not the first one that falls into my lap. Hoping to get out into the pnw a little more and a little further than the average person!
So yeah, hoping to start a build thread in the next month or so, but we'll see what happens! Stoked to be here and signed up!

PS Current rig is a 94 pickup that I've been driving around the west coast the past 3 or 4 years. Love it to death, but the 22re is pretty damn gutless and would love something a little more comfy ;)

I am here to get some advice on a 4runner repair. Not a spammer or a bot. I have new parts coming in soon and would like to get a answer to my question if possible. It is my wife's car so I have bought some leeway waiting for parts. Could anyone help me with my question thanks.

Hello from NAZ

Hello all,

I just recently picked up a 2013 Trail Edition 4Runner. After many years with a Mitsubishi Montero, I got tired of lack of parts availability, both OEM and aftermarket.

Looking forward to being back in the Toyota fold; previously had a 1991 80 series that I'd built a bit.

First things to figure out is how/where to mount my Engel, and what kind of sliders and skids to get.

Thanks for the ad!

New 5th GEN Owner

Hello and thanks for the awesome site. I just purchased a new 2017 4Runner White SR5. I purchased TRD rims and Nitto tires to customize the look a little and add some better traction to the hills here in Bakersfield California. My next upgrade will be the suspension. Just shocks, no lift. I have a before and after pic coming back from the hills. The Nitto tires hooked up better than i thought.

Hello. This is a very helpful forum and I'm just figuring out my way around it. It's so vast my head has been spinning for a while. Finally decided to pipe up and make myself part of the conversation.

Thanks, in advance, to everyone who takes time to share and talk here.

It is the Norcold equivalent to the MT45....a TEK II actually. I've had it for about 11 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. Been in my WJ, TLC, XJ, Westfalia, Montero, and now will be in the 4Runner.
