The New Guy

How is everyone doing, I'm cam! I'm new to the forum and the new owner of a 2017 SR5. I have a question in regards to wheel and tire sizing. I plan on doing a 3" toytech lift kit on my truck and want to do 18" wheels but couldn't find any specs on which tires and wheel size would be best. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

How large of a tire are you looking for? For an 18" wheel, the stock size is 265/60r18, which is a 31" tire. If you wanna fit larger tires, I believe the largest you can get away with is a 33" tire before you start to have serious rubbing issues, but I believe you'll be able to fit a 32" without any issues, which is a 265/65r18.

Also, what kind of tires are you looking for? How aggressive do you want the tread? Also do you want passenger tire or light truck tire?

Wish I had found this site sooner!

HI. New here and looking for suggestions. We have a 1993 V6 manual with 230,000 miles. I love that truck. It is like a member of the family since we have had it since it was brand new--over half my life! It is in the shop right now with a blown cylinder. They are saying replace the engine since rebuild would be just as much. We don't do the work ourselves so we have to have shop do it. I cried all day Friday when I got the news. We just put $2000 into it last month for a/c and seals and a stuff. We have reached the point where it is in the shop every 6 months for something major and the costs divided up are WAY more than a new car payment would be.
I guess I am looking to you fellow Runner fans--do we keep it as a project when we get a "new" vehicle (praying for another 4Runner)? Or do we sell it/trade it and hope to God we don't see someone else driving it?

Not doing the work yourself and (like myself) no money tree in the backyard makes it difficult. Is it possible to get a newer (used/old)3rd generation 4Runner (96-02) or newer? On the 2nd generation the engine isn't as reliable as the others and you may have to invest more again as time goes on, but it also has 230k miles on it. I personally would recommend keeping it as a project, but if you don't do the work yourself the project vehicle would take a long time to become your dream. Now trading it in will never get what its worth even after you do the new engine(rebuild) and the 2k for seals etc.

Listening to the story, trade/sell it and get another loving 4Runner. Just my 2 cents.

New (to me) 3rd gen 4runner here. Picked her up as a project rig. Have some interesting plans, we'll see how it goes. Have a feeling I'll spend more on accessories than I did on the truck itself!

Hi everyone, new guy and new 4Runner owner here. I picked up my new 2017 leftover Tuesday night its a TRD Offroad midnight black metallic. I've been driving a 1 ton diesel p/u for that last 17 years so this is going to take some getting used to, so far I like it. I figured instead of lurking I'd just join, say hello and start reading everything I can.
I have lots of ideas on what I want to do but I know nothing about this vehicle so it looks like I found the right place to get help.

Newbie needs advice from former Tahoe/Yukon owners

I currently drive a 2015 lifted Tahoe and am considering trading it in on a 2017 4Runner Limited. I have a love/hate relationship with the Tahoe - I love the space but I hate having to make a 9 point turn every time I back up in a crowded parking lot. I have a child in a booster and a toddler in a forward facing car seat to consider. They have a tough time getting in and out, even with the automatic side rails. I love the 4Runner's exterior and without kids, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I'm just wondering if I'll regret it since I'll be giving up so much space and if the ride is not near as smooth. Husband says to just trade Tahoe in on a non-lifted one or a non-lifted Yukon. Any advice from previous Tahoe/Yukon owners who made the switch? Thanks and sorry if I wrote a book

First time 4Runner

I recently acquired my first 4Runner after owning 3 Toyota trucks. 1999 4Runner, 4WD 3.4/5 MT SR5. I've got some minor issues to work on, but overall it runs and drives well.
