Greetings from the T4R Military community. Ive been a passenger for years. Finally bought my own. 2001 Ltd 4WD. Second owner. 100% stock and is getting its first mod today. Not sure how to add pics. Looking to gain as much info along the way and meet some people in the SoCal area.

I pulled the trigger on a new TRD ORP back in June 2018 after test driving different SUVs (Rogue, Frontier, Atlas, CX-5, CX-9, X5, X3 M40i, Q5, SQ5, ML350, GX460, RX350, Highlander, and Rav4). The ORP attracted me over the SR5/limited due to the faux carbon fiber (LOL), the faux leather seats with TRD badging, the faux hood scoop, and it had way less chrome than the limited.

My 3rd gen is driving me insane trying to figure out a fix for a driveline vibration or something continuously, relatively quickly knocking my ujoints out. I’ve searched this site countless times. I found a few threads where someone was experiencing my same issue seemingly but either no one had a solution and/or if the OP found their solution, they decided not to share. Unfortunately starting your own thread isn’t an option until some requirements are met. Not sure the reasons but sucks!

Helloooo! I need some help

It's been a long time coming and the wait is finally over for me....I'm finally making the move to own my first 4runner! Here's a little backstory of my car history...

I'm in the SoCal area and go the desert very often. I've been driving a Mazda 3 and have taken it off roading everywhere I go
It's my first car(I've had it since high school) and I sure as hell beat the hell out of it! Never really took good care of it so now I'm dealing with all the repercussions of that. Oh well, lesson learned! For my next car I'll make sure to pay more attention, and take better care of it. No more neglecting.

I plan on getting a used 4th gen. 4runner.
After hours & hours of researching and reading(thank god for this forum) I would ideally like to get myself a 4runner with a V8 and obviously 4x4...

Unfortunately I haven't found any 4runners in my price range in my area. So now I've been searching in Utah, mostly SLC area and have found many affordable options that look very promising. Another luxury for me is y uncle lives in SLC. He's owned a 4runner so I'll be making sure to take him along.

One thing that has me concerned about purchasing a car from that area though is the issue of rusting.
From my research it seems like Utah isn't part of "the salt belt" but it seems like 4th gen 4runners have had the issue of rusting easily? I don't know much but any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Any 4th gen 4runner owners from the Utah area out here? If so, what has your experience been with this whole rusting issue? Does anyone NOT recommend me buying a used car from this area?

Sorry if I sound like a rookie! I'm just trying to make the right decision! Just because it maybe cheaper to purchase a car in another state doesn't mean it'll be worth it if this is a main concern. I want to make sure my trip to Utah will be worth it.

BUT after looking at the car fax I noticed that the tires keep getting replaced every 5,000 miles.....and to me that raises a red flag...even with my huge lack of knowledge for cars.

Anyone have any input on this? Is this a common issue for 04 4runners?!

Hi guys Im returning my '96 SR5 3.4L v6 to atleast all functionality, and then I wanna just make her beautiful. I bought it from a guy who didn't speak english, and hus translator lied to me about its condition. I dont regret getting it but I couldn't drive it for 3 months after buying because of ignition lock up that was HORRIBLE and left me stranded in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The more I work on my 4runner, the more I notice that this man has halfway fixed things or fixed things and then made it VERY difficult to go in behind him and change those thibgs again. Which is a problem Im currently having and need help with. I'd really just like to make a post about it but if anyone is willing to help me that'd be GREAT! 👍😅

Ti me this means that theyve never gotten it aligned and its wearing the tread, there is definitely something wrong, you can always have a mechanic take a look at it and see what coukd possibly bw causing an issue like that and if the cost of fixing the issue isnt too bad it would be worth it.
