Hi there. I'm not super new to this site as I've done lots of research over the years and I always get good info from here. I've been driving Toyota's, and been obsessed with them for years starting with my first 89' 4runner.

I finally have had a 94 runner for two years now and just bought another, complete 95 sr5 runner with a horribly busted 3.0 that I'm replacing with a 3.4 ( something that I've been wanting to do on my 94) but never had another car to drive while doing all that. Plus the 3.0 is still Thankfully running beautifully after hitting 200k. So that's my daily while trying to figure out how the eff I'm going to complete this swap. The 95' runner came with an extra pulled 3.4 motor, with LESS THAN 100k! It Doesn't really have any timing parts or anything on it, as the people that pulled it have no idea what 3.4 swaps entail. So no ecu no harness or any extra parts. I don't know the VIN or any donor info whatsoever. Practically just the block, and all I know is that it's from a 95 something. And it should be from a m/t but I'm not sure.

I got the 95 runner with the extra 3.4 engine for 700bucks. Body has had a ton of maintenance and all sorts of stuff replaced on it, so it was a steal I couldnt say no to. And my wife is okay with it sitting in the driveway for forever. Lol.

The 95 4runner is 4x4 manual trans.
I have a 95 t100 3.4 4x4 m/t ecu
I have a 97 3.4 4x4 m/t engine harness.

I have a 97 t100 3.4 2x4 A/T ECU, dash, engine and body harness. And whole evap system.

I'm on here to figure out what to do with my life with this whole situation I've got.

I just pulled the 97 a/t stuff because I got an unbelievable deal on it. And I'm hoping I can just use all of that and bypass the a/t parking, and wondering if the 2x4 is going to be a problem? I have everything and I mean EVERYTHING from TIS I need now from the 95 4runner, and 97 t100 everything. Wrong and repair stuff. It took me two days to get practically everything downloaded. I figured I could do the dash harness swap from the a/t 97 since it is specifically for 3.4, repin that for 95 m/t ECU and use the 97 m/t engine harness!? And then the body harness from the 97 also. UGH. NOW IM CONFUSED.

Anywayyyy, I feel like with everything I have I should be able to make it work. I'm all about repinning a/t to m/t engine harness..

I just need help identifying my engine, because I've been told it could be the non obd2 with egr. And that the wiring could be very difficult between the 95 3.4 t100 egr non obd2 engines, and the ones made after that. I am pretty positive about it having egr. But how do you know if it has Obd2 just by looking at it? I have an engine number. But I have no idea how to look that up.

Okay I'm done for now.

As you can see I've got a lot of work to do, and questions. but I am extremely mechanically inclined and learn very quickly. and the only issue I'm going to be having is getting this wiring right and figuring out what to do with the engine. I really want the obd2. Would it be easier to just sell the engine and get one that's more complete to match up with harnesses better? That actually has VIN and donor info? Because I'm still learning about the differences in engines.and I want things kept as SIMPLE and easy as possible.

Can anyone halp please!? Haha. I stopped drinking about a year ago and have picked up pretty much full time wrenching in my spare time. I've got a driveway and house and a big shed with all my tools, so I'm in no hurry. I just want to get this thing on the road before my 94 3.0 blows up on me!

Mostly just on here to get some tips and help with the swap. I'm pretty smart and know I will figure it out. But I've got no other friends who know anything about wrenching or swapping an engine.

So I pretty much did the opposite of what the bold letters say... my bad lol. I’ve been coming to t4r for years now whenever getting ready to dive into a project on my 02 4Runner. Now I have a 16 4Runner as well and I’m getting ready to tow a camper. So once again, I found myself here. Not sure why it took me so long to register but better later than never.

Also I have a question. What is the little icon at the bottom of a post with a thought bubble and a + sign supposed to be for?
