New seeking
Good morning. I do not own 4r, but have been its primary mechanic since 2013 and driver for almost 2yrs. This morning I am at the shop for what I thought was a simple axle seal and bearing Turns out the differential is flaking badly. It looked like that dark gray glitter glue. I have been advised I should find a used rear axle and swap it. So the important question: "which year is it?" It is a 97 (3rd gen). 2wd, auto, 3.4 v6. It has 337k on it. Owner is my mom. Location: near Macon, GA. Original post is a little confusing about who what where and when to post which.
So hi. And, help pls. Need advice or reasonable offers. Also, if there is no core for the axle, who wants to purchase it to rebuild for themselves?(cross that when we get there)

Hello, my name is Jason and I have a 2018 TRD Off-road in Magnetic Metallic. My family and I enjoy camping and exploring dirt roads.

Hello!
Happy to be coming back to Toyota after having a moment and being a Mazda CX-5 owner for the last 5 years! I'm in Arizona, can't wait to interact.
Still looking for that perfect 4Runner for me, but I know I am definitely supposed to be a Toyota girl :-)

Hello... newb first time 4Runner owner here
So, from Seattle-ish, spend a lot of time in the mountains and out on the eastern side of the state looking for game birds and such.
Have owned a few 4x4's - 2 Chevy Blazers (full size), Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Xterra (I know this is almost sacrilege posting the names of these here but hey... I've crossed over to the good side now so go easy on me).
Don't do any hardcore wheeling, just like to get out there and make it home in one piece and be able to use the truck again the following weekend!
Coming into owning a '99 4Runner that my dad bequeathed to me he had 2 of them and a Tundra, guess he knew better but he also had a little more disposable income than I did!
Anyhow, that's my background and I'm glad to have found this forum. The Nissan forums have been invaluable for me to find mods and how-to repair advice, I'm sure this will be equally helpful.
David.

Hola
I had a 97 4runner for years but rolled it last November. Just bought a 2010 trail to replace it. I live in the middle of nowhere in the western highlands of Guatemala. I really appreciate forums for troubleshooting and repair advice.

1st Time 4Runner owner
Hi, everyone, just bought my first 4Runner in July. 2020 Nighshade in magnetic gray. Coming out of a 2008 F150 FX4 that I owned since new (passed down to my son). Heard great things about this vehicle over the years, and looking forward to having some fun with it.

New
New here! My first T4R was a first gen, my dad owned a 2nd, 3rd and 4th, brother has a 1st gen tundra, 4th and 5th gen T4Rs, sister has had a 3rd and 4th gen 4runner... so needless to say we like out Yotas!
I just picked up a Texas owned 2005 V8 4x4 Limited 1 owner 136k for $6k which I still feel like I’m dreaming haha!
My second vehicle is a 2001 Taco 4x4, love that thing.
Not sure what the photo is turned like that.

My daughter just got a 2006 SR5. Joining here to learn.
I've got a 2013 Tundra, bought new, and am fairly active on Tundras.com.

Hello everyone, finally joining up after lurking for the last 2 years!
I had a '99 Highlander, supercharged, for the last year and a half. Just recently let that one go onto a new home, too many holes in the frame for me to trust anymore.
Found a '96 that came from Arizona in 2016 (to MN) that's in great shape body wise. Much lower miles on the engine too. Almost time to swap the supercharger over!
Thanks for having me.
