New guy here from LA. My first post and shopping around for a 4Runner.

I currently own a 3rd gen Tacoma but long story short it is too small for my growing family.

I have owned Tacoma’s all my life. I don’t know anything about 4Runners. That’s why I joined this site. I’m a pretty active member from TW.
I am planning on lifting it but I can ask those questions later.

My question to you guys are;

Which trim should I be looking for? Or stay away from? Im looking at the TRD OR or higher to purchase.
Any major recalls?
Any problems with the current 4runners ie. mechanical, engine, etc?

New to the 4runner forums here in Houston,Tx. I own a 2001 4runner 2wd that, I've owned for 2yrs now. Has 241,xxx miles on it and just replaced the engine with a 9x,xxx mile engine this past weekend. Preventative maintenance was done on the engine before install to give piece of mind getting it back on the road. Yesterday I fired it up without issue and it drove for 20mins until I got on the brakes at a low speed and the truck died. What I saw on the gauge cluster was the temp gauge maxed out, battery light, oil light, and gas gauge below E. I let it sit for a while and even disconnected the negative battery terminal to let ecu reset itself and after a while it would fire back up and run. Until I tapped the brake and it died without hesitation. I have the electronic booster and I'm not 100% sure that this is the leading cause of the issue. Last night I attempted to fire the truck up again. The engine would turn but not fire and eventually it stopped turning over like the battery was being drained.... I appreciate in advance to all that can point me in the right direction of solving this issue and finding the post with the knowledge I seek.

Hey guys, new here and really considering getting the TRD Pro in Army green. I tried to post in my local area threads but it keeps saying I'm not allowed to post. I wanted to get your guys opinion if its a good deal and the fact that it does have some aftermarket accessories already installed.

Any help would be appreciated on where I can post to get a better response?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I'm going to see it this weekend.
