Well, a funny thing happened on the way to the Forum ! I had a "New Member" reply 1/2 typed and I got up to let a dog out of his kennel and I collapsed. Short version: I collapsed coming in from strength training and it took me two hours to crawl to a phone. Diagnosis was a slow heart rate due to heart failure (previous condition). Called wife and she took me to the ER. Put a temporary pacemaker in and I was in ICU for 2 days and CCU for 2 more. Home now and doing fine!:
To begin again: I use the username "Bear Bio" because (1) I am a retired Federal Wildlife Biologist and (2) my MS in Animal Behavior required a thesis, which I did on Black Bear Behavior. BS in Marine Biology and 25+ years in Real Estate & Escrow before I went back to school.
Live in North Central Washington between the Cascade Foothills and the Great Scablands. Have had numerous 4 WDs of almost every brand including FJ40s, Toyota P/U (2), Scouts, Broncos, Dodges & Nissans. I am on my second FJ40=a '69 Restomod with a 350 Chevy. Just got my wife a 2019 4Runner SR5 with <17K miles. Traded in her Xterra (a good car) and am selling my Frontier Crew Cab, so we are a Toyota Family again!
In '84 or ;85, I drone my '83 FJ40 over the "old" Mojave Road/Trail. Later that year, I "pioneered" forest roads from Wrightwood to Malibu in it. Got stuck hunting pigs at Ft. Hunter Liggett (When you stick an FJ, you are STUCK!!). Rock crawled near Price, Utah deer hunting in my P/U (sold it for $2800 with 327+K miles after getting stuck in a blizzard at Wolf Creek Pass near Durango, CO, after hunting elk and mulies near Thermopolis, WY.
Happy to be back!
A recommendation: If you have Prime, watch "Expedition Overland"! It's about some guys in Montana who made an overland trip to the Arctic Ocean to the tip of South America using 3 Toyotas (First trip: 2 p/u and a Land Cruiser; second trip: 2 p/u and a 4Runner) Takes three seasons but especially watch them go through Baja in Season 2.
BTW: Member of IH8MUD, Land Cruiser Club, this forum and TLCA (Both wife and I)
