Hi, new member here. I have a 2001 4Runner that has had a series of unfortunate issues. I purchased it last July, around November the brake module went out. Had that replaced and back on the road for about 6 weeks and the transmission began slipping and having issues getting it to engage drive & reverse at times. I am torn between fixing it and just parting it out to recoup some of my money. Anyone have suggestions?

Cool

Hello!

The plan is to buy a 3rd gen 4Runner, so I thought I'd join a related forum. After all, I do that with every other vehicle or hobby I get into. ;)

I'm in SoCal and am known on some other forums as headhunter. That was already taken, so I went with SoCalHeadhunter.

There are many things for me to learn and I look forward to participating in the community.

I have spent a lot of time off-highway over the years, but this will be my first Toyota. It feels weird to say that, because I've recommended the brand to a lot of friends and they've all been happy with them. I've known so many people who have liked their Toyotas that I thought it was time that I got one!

See you around!

Christian

Nice pics! Hope to make it down to Texas for both quail and hogs. I'm selling my 2011 T4R SR5 and hope to get a 2021 Off-Road Premium when the dealerships in the Chicago area have them in their inventories. The locking rear diff will be a big help. For travel and hunting I'm planning on a Truck Vault but would consider alternatives. Any advice for rock sliders? The Desert Does It seat jacks and compressor mount w/ARB compressor look intriguing.

Hi All, Father in law gave me his 2005 2WD Limited 4runner in Stratosphere Mica. I'm super stoked and looking forward to making progress on it. This forum has already been incredibly helpful in getting through the first steps of doing much due maintenance.

First stop is suspension refresh including OME Springs and Bilstein 5100's. I'll be updating the suspension/photo sticky as soon as its done.

Thanks already for the help in getting keys programmed, replacement window seal part numbers, JBL Subwoofer accessing for repair/replace.

Been lurking this forum for a long time and found tons of knowledgeable people and awesome builds. I am the second owner since 2013, to a '97 SR5. It currently has over 300k on the odometer and it still runs great. In the last 7 years I had only a few minor repairs with no sign of this vehicle stopping anytime soon. I finally joined the forum because I plan to make some upgrades to my bone stock 3rd gen. I look forward to learning more from everyone here.

Cool

Anyone know how many replies you need before you can post? I'm wanting to post to help sell my 01 4x4 on here. Been a member since 2016 but apparently have only made 5 replies in that whole time

Well having a 15 post minimum is really disruptive since I've got a question and can't post it in the proper thread. I'll just post it here and hope for a response.

I just purchased a 2019 Limited/Nightshade and my bilstein/OME lift is being shipped to me. I know that I'll need some sort of step/rock slider so that my kids can manage to even get in the vehicle (3 inch lift) but there aren't really any options due to the limited trim piece. I was looking into using the Shrockworks trim piece and then buying the Go Rhino RB20s but neither shrockworks nor Go Rhino can tell me if they will work together because they haven't tried it. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there any other side steps/ rock sliders that fit the limited trim?

Hey everyone. My name is Shane from Jacksonville, Fl and although not new to 4runners (currently on my 3rd) i am new to the group and i'm looking forward to getting some good ideas and parts for my current build (2012 Limited). I am looking to convert a lot of the looks of the limited to the TRD look without sacrificing the limited interior upgrades. My most recent upgrade was replacing the Limited 20" wheels with the 17" TRD wheels. I'm hoping to remove the rocker panels and install some type of slide steps and blacking out chrome and replacing front grille with a legacy style. I'm looking forward to getting started and getting some good info. Thanks! Shane

Hello all

I finally found a unicorn! Thanks to an incredible stroke of luck, I recently snagged a 2008 V6 Sport with under 90K miles for a ridiculous price.

There are a number of mostly minor issues, largely due to aging plastic and rubber bits. Unfortunately, I have essentially zero service history, so I am assuming the worst and proactively updating key systems. My plan is to be buried in this thing on the far side of 300K miles.

This forum has been absolutely invaluable thanks to the many years of generous information sharing by the great people here. I will continue to wear out the search function, ask questions when that fails and hopefully contribute lessons-learned.
