After many years of owning toys and yes lurking for helpful hints I had to take the leap and join in. Time to say hey all. At the moment we have 2 gen 4s. Just got one back on the road and I’m still having problems with the other but I believe I’ve got it figured out. I’m just not sure I want to spend that much on a engine compartment wiring harness! But hey that’s tomorrow. Have a great night.
Hey there all! I have spent a lot of time reading these forums and gleaned a lot of extremely useful info, so thank you!
I have a beautiful 3rd gen 4runner that sadly has the cancer. There is a lot of surface rust on the frame/underside and on the passenger side there are some rust holes in the chassis. I have had a couple people who know Toyotas look at it and say "oh, that's not too bad" but living in the Deep South, no one knows how to deal with rust and I haven't had any luck in finding someone who could help me fix up the frame so I can get some more life out of this car. I've seen a lot of threads on here about people doing DIY rust repairs, but I have neither the skills or the time to do that myself. I'm posting here in the hopes that I can find someone in my region who I could pay to patch and treat my frame.
I'm attaching some pics of the holes, as well as one of the brackets (they are all kind of rusted to this degree) - is this something worth trying to fix? the car has 172k, engine transmission and everything mechanical in great shape. would anyone out there be willing to help me out with this? Like I said, I am willing to pay someone to help with this issue. I'm located in New Orleans but would be willing to drive within reason. Any direction you could point me would be so appreciated!
