New member. New to 4Rs. I bought a 22 TRD off-road that is supposed to be here in a week or two.
I’ve already read up a bit on different mods and I’m planning to do Bilstein 5100s set to .8” lift in the front and stock rear to level it out a bit. Stock tire size but probably some ko2s.
Looking at some bumpers now too if anyone has any suggestions. I’d want something more minimalist. No full on overlanding bumpers so if you have suggestions let me know! Thanks.

New-ish to the forum. I've been lurking around for a year or two but never got around to becoming a member. I currently own a '01 T4R SR5 as my daily driver and weekend wheeler with 304K miles. Have a lot of plans for this truck in the future. Here's a pic.

hey i have a question out of curiosity as to what my 4runner would be worth. I have an 05 sports edition 4.7 V8,180,000 miles and in amazing shape and just had the frame fixed so its in great shape now. no problems with it, a $800 aftermarket screen, weather tech mats, kept up on all check ups, and all highway miles no off-road. Thanks in advance

A one time 5th generation owner, Want to be again
Long term Toyota fan since I bought my first, a brand new 2006 Tundra TRD that I still own and drive daily. Had a Sequoia too.
Been looking hard for a reasonable priced 4Runner, was seriously considering a low mile 2006 but it didn't work out. As you know, prices are crazy right now on used rigs.
Looking really hard at a white 2012 SR5 4WD.
Can't make a new post, and I'm gonna check for some pics, but I would like to get suggestions on how to make a bone-stock 2012 a little less "soccer-mom", but not looking to do anything that would reduce gas mileage and don't want it to look like a mall-crawler either. Black wheels would be a nice start...
Hope to add a 4Runner to my garage soon. Be seeing ya!
Joe

Yeah used market is absolutely insane right now. I mean Toyotas always have high resale value, but the prices in my area have been ridiculous

5th gen owner...again
Just sealed a deal on a 2012 SR5 4WD. My wife had one back in 2012-2013 but sold it.
Been looking for a few weeks. Every vehicle I found on Autotrader, Cars, and Cargurus.com, including 4th and 5th gen 4Runners, Highlanders, Camrys, Avalons, and FJ Cruisers, were ALL $3-$7K OVER NADA Clean retail price. But yet the ads often said "great deal" or "good deal" or $xxxx under Market.
I DID find this one, and only this one, for $1000 under NADA clean retail so I snatched it up. It was still too much! But wow, it really is a well cared for truck. It might be 10 years/127K miles but it doesn't show.
SE Missouri at the Kia Dealership. It was traded in just a few days ago. The owner's husband worked at a car customization shop across the street.
I'm happy to get back into a 4Runner.
Tires are brand new. What can I do for $1000 to update the looks? I'm not needing or wanting to do lift and while I may use 4wd a dozen times a year, it is not offroading really. I really like the looks of the early 5th gen Trail models, if that tells you what I'm thinking.
Joe

I've been looking for a 4th gen all over the country. Best deal I found was a 06 sport 4x4 V6 with 67K, it had TRD leather seats and looked pristine. It sold for $16K at least and the dealer said he had dozens of calls and it was on the market for just a few days. The first guy who made a real offer got it. I was the second and told him I would pay asking price, but didn't get the chance. Apples to Oranges I know. Do nationwide searches on Autotrader and Cargurus and prepared to be shocked---dealers are asking $3-$6K over NADA retail. I ended up buying a 2012 for $1000 below NADA retail and got a deal in today's market. So you could look up the value on NADA. A private party sale will always bring less, by several thousand it is just hard to sell a vehicle yourself anymore.
Don't be offended by my OPINION here--I wasn't considering anything with that many miles and wanted an 06 or later V6. But if I had to guess (without doing the research on your vehicle as I suggest above) you might get $12K for it from the right buyer. I sold a 06 Sequoia 4wd SR5 leather in excellent mechanical shape but the clearcoat was worn off half the truck and the white paint was chalky, with 175K, for $6500 last summer and the buyer was happy and said it was the best deal around. Those were listed for about $10K at stealerships.

New member here from Canada. I picked up a white 2004 SR5 V8 with 97k miles back in November. I bought it as a beater to go through the winter while I wait for a new car… Unknown delivery date due to COVID and chip shortage. However, I like the 4Runner so much I might actually just keep it.
Since I picked it up, I removed the hood deflector and running boards, debadged it, polished the headlights, did the brake rotors, pads and callipers at all 4 corners, changed the oil and brake fluid, replaced the engine and cabin air filter and replaced the HVAC lights. Plans for the spring if I keep it includes a 2-3” suspension lift, new wheels and tires and most likely new headers since I have an exhaust leak that appears to come from the front driver side, causing a P0420 code.
This forum as been very helpful solving the small issues I encountered as well as for planning my mods.
