2016 TRD PRO Quicksand

Hey Guys.

First time on the site. Excited to learn some tricks.

Just picked up mine on Tuesday.

Super lucky to grab this one. Found it Sunday night, checked it out Monday when it was on hold by someone else. Customer released the hold Monday afternoon and I was in the dealership on Tuesday morning making the deal.

Had a '98 sr5 in high school but this is the most pissed off stock 4Runner generation I've seen.

2016 TRD Pro Quicksand

Just picked up mine in Quicksand 2 days ago, love it so far! 1st 4Runner. Can't wait to get it on the trail, but have to enjoy the new car shine for at least a couple weeks! Better pics later.

Aside from that, i have to replace my "special trd" coilovers due to weight of my bumper, winch etc...

I also wish they would have installed keyless ignition, the price is pushing limited territory...

Just my opinion... i would go with a TEP if you're not getting a special color.
Basically the TRD Pro is a factory "tuned" 4Runner ready to do some decent trails out of the box. The benefit is you're paying for a cosmetic apperance package (which looks cool,) some special paint, slightly better protection (skidplate,) and a mild lift kit (which is under factory warranty, that's a big plus to some brand new vehicle purchasers.) It's basically a "lightly modded" 5th gen that is covered under factory warranty, for those owners who would rather spend a little upfront and have it be able to play on some trails without having to add a bunch of aftermarket/non-warrantable stuff to their brand new vehicle.

It's sort of a niche/stepping stone trim for those that want "modded" 4Runner that is under warranty to play with (I know some people aren't like @Antman and want to wait until it's mostly paid off before they start sinking money into it ) It probably came about from seeing the majority of owners going for the typical "Satoshi," Bilistien 5100's, LT Tires, and other minor mods. So they decided why don't we just make that an available trim and sell it for a bit of a premium?

Hi, Hawthorne. Welcome to the site and congrats. That's a nice looking rig for sure.

Longo, in El Monte? I bought my first Toyota there - It was also my first new vehicle, first 4 wheel drive, first truck... etc. It was an '85 xtra-cab SR5. Loved that truck.

They could have at least thrown in some rock sliders, listened to customers/niche enthusiasts, etc. and put some better tires. Also the original promo vehicle had a sunroof and led dashboard display over the radio. I ended up having some custom springs made at Deaver Spring, so I'll get the front level even with my winch, bumper and stainless skids weight. I guess I was just disappointed there was almost no real tangible value aside from maybe the paint and suspension. The front shocks are not $1700 worth of coilover, if they were adjustable, that alone would have made me happy.

At least I can say it does better off road than my 2014 Pathfinder premium, although that is more comfortable on pavement, like a highlander ...

Improvements over my FJ? Well there is a 7 pin connector for the rear receiver...

I still don't believe a supercharger will ever be available, especially since, I believe the Tacoma is going with a different powertrain ...

I wish TRD had special dealers, like scion but for performance cars and trucks...

Congrats on the new rigs!
I've now seen the quicksand and white. But has anyone seen the gray metallic yet?
