Putting a 4Runner back into the garage...

I've lurked here for a bit soaking up some knowledge and figured it was time to post. We are Texas ex-pats living in the St. Louis area and plan to retire back home in a few years. I've been lucky to have owned some awesome t4r's in the past - 86' and an 09' - but now my keys fit a 2nd gen Tacoma and I love it but as you can easily imagine I still want to have a t4r in the garage. I'm "semi-actively" hunting for another 2009 to tinker with but in the mean time I went ahead and ordered a 2016 Trail Premium as a surprise gift for my wife. While at the Toyota store I had a bit of a WTF moment.

In our region - St. Louis metro east - ordering a mag grey trail premium with KDSS takes 4-5 weeks to build and deliver. Adding the sliding rear tray option to the same order pushes the build and delivery time out to 12-14 weeks. Makes no sense. But since she has no idea that it's coming I'm not sweating the wait.

In other news, who has successfully retrofitted the heated/cooled limited seats into a different trim model 4Runner or Tacoma for that matter? I want to get ready to perform a few retrofits and upgrades to my new toy her new truck.

Looking forward to learning more from all of you and thanks for the site.

Ah your wife is one lucky lady. Hope you get that baby soon. I have a 2016 T4R Limited and I love it. Took 12 weeks to get it.

This will be our first new 4Runner since 2009. I want to tell her but I know it will ruin the surprise.
