I rode in a well built 4runner and it rides tons smoother than my FJ. Not sure if it's the longer wheelbase.

Thanks Megilly, and everyone else...

My uni-brow replacement should be here tomorrow, I did add the running boards just becasue they keep the road grim down and ward off a few door dings.

Still can't figure out why someone has to park right next to me in a empty parking lot, no matter how flipping far I park away from the doors.

No real plans right now. Well maybe a better set of tires, have to see how these do in the snow.

We'll be doing almost the same thing as you (I'm looking at used 4Runners) but we sold our FJ once it was too hard to get the little one in the back.

We just did the same thing, same color even! We did keep our FJ though.
Our 4Runner is going to be going through a thorough upgrade in the coming months, videos to follow.

Your comment about people parking right next to you in a wide open parking lot stuck a nerve. I have been having that happen to me ever since I got my 4Runner. I have a handicap plate but most times I park in the back forty just to avoid door dings.

Agreed. I just got my 17' TRDOR a little over a week ago and it's an absolute magnet in parking lots.

I was seriously considering an FJ originally, kept hearing of the windshield horror stories and I wasn't sure about the ride compared to the 4Runner. I really like the one you went with though. I want a new off-road

Never had an issue with my FJ's windshield (knock on wood).

I own both a 13 FJ and 13 4Runner. My wife drives the 4Runner, the FJ is my baby. Both are great, but the FJ is just a special vehicle that nothing else compares to. Buy both!

No windshield issues with my FJ either, and it had taken a few pebbles and had a few chips in it.

I had to punch it in order for it to respond. Had I punched the FJ like I did the 4runner it would have laid rubber like the Delorean time machine.

I recently switched from a 2007 4th gen to a 2017 5th gen. I feel like the 2017 is a little more sluggish. It's probably good tho to keep me from driving as crazy!

I felt the same thing from every new toyota I test drove (Tundra, Tacoma, 4runner, and 2 Camry). My 2015 Camry I traded for the 4runner didn't start to loosen up till after about 10,000 miles. The new 4runner will take aleast that long to open up. Toyota engines and drivelines are built tight.
