Strawberry pass and barker pass loop

Well, it has been a while. A buddy and I went to Tahoe area for a weekend. He brought up strawberry pass and I brought up barker pass loop. So we did both.

I would call myself a beginner who is still learning. I had a great time on these trails.

Impressions.
Strawberry pass which we took from hwy 88 point to point to highway 50. Mainly just a rocky road with two obstacles listed on most descriptions. We found four sections difficult for us and used those as times for learning. Most of it was kind of misreading a line or just trying it before you walk it thing. One time we were stuck, a tire slipped off a 4 foot boulder and onto the rear differential with both rear tires in the air. We hi lifted the rear hitch, got a rock under the tires and drove it off. Seems simple yes, but I’m glad we got to go through the process of troubleshooting, deciding on the action and then doing it safely. But again if someone was spotting it probably wouldn’t of happened. That was the big lesson.

Barker pass.
The OHV portion is a traction game with steep climbs that needed no spotting. I did not struggle here and am just amazed at what these freaking trucks can do. The last 6 miles or so when your are heading to the rubicon staging area a rock as **** but no problems. Very nice drive by lakes, puckering kind of steep climbs and awesome top views made this a great easier than yesterday trip.
