This sounds close to my dream build as well! I just picked up an '18 Limited over the weekend.

new guy here

I purchased a 4th gen shadow mica 4runner with about 150k. So far I've been getting some general maintenance up to date on it. Replaced a wheel bearing on the passenger side. Im gonna swap out the CV on the drivers side in a day or two. I really like doing the work my self. My first mod will either be ditch lights or a Dobinson Lift kit. Depends on which carrier gets here first today; fedex or UPS.

I sure do. It fits very well and looks like it was there from the factory. You'll need to stretch it as you install it, to match the seams to the sides of the existing armrest lid. It does not interfere with the latch if installed properly. It took me about 30 seconds to install.

$17.44 on Amazon.

Well I guess you could consider weathertech floor mats.

Attempted to install my Xenon Depot H11 HID kit and got nearly done and found out the bulb I was putting in the passenger side was moving around a bit. Come to find out the spot welds on the little tabs had come loose. Could have been like that from the get go or I could have tapped it against something while connecting all the wires and pushing the grommet through the hole I drilled in the dust cover. The driver side was super fast and took probably 5 minutes. The passenger side took forever trying to get into the housing and was just generally a pain in the ass. I’ve already sent Xenon Depot an email and just waiting to hear back from them.
I also installed HID light bulbs on my 2016 4Runner. Very easy installation. HIDs work very well with the existing projector type lens. It has the same sharp beam cutoff as the factory bulbs and the same light distribution. It does not blind the oncoming traffic like the HIDs installed on regular reflector type headlights.
The grommet supplied with HID kit was very weak and thin. I had to put some clear silicone sealant to seal it properly. A step drill bit is a must for drilling holes in the existing low beam light bulb dust covers. If not sealed properly it will allow dirt and moisture into the headlight enclosure.

Hmm, the grommets on mine were pretty thick and somewhat difficult to get into the 1" hole I cut with one of those spade type drill bits. I'm currently running electrical tape to cover the holes while I await a replacement bulb.

I think the Tundra brake upgrade for the 3rd gen. Definitely needs it.

Other than that, getting some front and rear bumpers soon.

Maybe not the most exciting thing, but I ordered the Salex console organizer.

Picked up my 2000 limited this weekend and I did my very first mod today - I swapped out the stock horn for a Hella Trumpet Horn. I have an Airaid intake tube on order which will replace the stock intake silencer portion of the intake tube. I also have a B&M 70268 tranny cooler on order, I'll install that early next week.

I haven't even tried the stock horn yet, but I like the idea of the horn swap.

Hella makes a trumpet horn that's a direct plug-in for Toyotas. Cost is under $20 and it's a two minute job with a wrench to unscrew the old horn, unplug, plug into the new horn, and screw back on.

Of course there are more expensive options, which are louder or with different tones, but I wanted something quick and easy right off the bat. Not sure if I'll change it in the future. This is the only one I know of that is a direct plug-in though!

My first mod at 326 miles to be exact was new wheels and tires. 285/70/17 KO2 will fit on stock suspension for on road use. You will have to remove the front mud flaps and trim the front bumper which you have to do no matter what. Trimming is on the lower inner edge of the bumper where you really can't see. You'll have to do this to run a 285 even with a lift so may as well get it out of the way now.
