Hello all, KDSS vs beefed up sway bar question

Hello and thank you for all the information you all are sharing here. I am looking into a new 4runner. I have so far test driven an Limited and a Trail, the latter both with and without KDSS. I was disappointed with the on road handling of all except for the KDSS equipped Trail version. I will be using this as a "one does it all vehicle", commuting and weekend camping trips. My off-roading will be limited to rocky gravel roads and deep snow only. My question, is there a thicker sway bar available for the 4runner to accomplish the same on road manners (limit the body lean) as the KDSS without the complication and cost of the system. I understand I will be giving up some off road capabilities but that is acceptable to me for my usage. My last truck was a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and she did all I ever asked her to do with far superior on road handling. Either the Limited or Trail with a beefy front and rear swaybar could accomplish the same. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Kdss can be fully engaged or disengaged as needed. Heavy duty sway bar would help on pavement while hurting Offroad performance. Going with the TRD Offroad (Trail) also includes a rear locker. Rear locker is the main reason I bought the TRD Offroad. The Limited does have Awd, which can help or hurt depending on terrain and your needs.

Do you want a sunroof? TRD Offroad can be optioned with or without the sunroof.

I understand that a heavier swaybar will limit suspension travel but as I mentioned, gravel roads and snow will be my main use. Therefor I would be willing to give up some suspension travel for the benefits of a beefed up swaybar. In fact, KDSS will limit suspension travel at any speed above 12 miles if I did my research correct and only "softens" up below 12. Since I am not dong any rock crawling, I could not care less about the suspension travel however I can't for the life of me find swaybars on the internet. My ideal truck would be the limited with less body roll. Does anyone make a swaybar for that or maybe a custom shop one could recommend? I have upgraded many of my past trucks/cars with a thicker swaybar with stellar results in terms of driving dynamics.

I have KDSS on My LC. You are correct about the speed...at lower speeds it’s loosens up. I’d keep it it’s a great system unless your use is very specialized to require beefier sways.
