I plastidipped an entire car once, what a pain in the ass that was. It turned out awesome, but I tend to come up with some ideas where about halfway through I say to myself "This was really a terrible idea." But I am too far in to quit at that point.

very cool

Gonna have to go out and buy some of that stuff. My truck already had the grill painted but its now looks like I have glitter on my front as the paint has come off in places. Not the look im trying to go for.

what i can say is that i plati dipped my jeans once on accident, and it still hasnt come off two years later and countless washes. on clothing its hella durable. on paint it peels much easier.

Plasti Dip Roof: Gloss White

I'm a noob here, about 3 weeks into my first 4runner and have been more active on local facebook groups. I've found a couple posts where guys have Plasti-Dipped or wrapped the roof of their rigs to protect them from scratches, etc. with a roof rack or basket.

What I'm thinking about doing is a white roof like an FJ or old school Land Rover. I think they originally painted them that way to keep safari/expedition vehicles cooler in the desert and tropical climates. I just wanted to know what other Plasti Dip users thought of that idea and how difficult it would be to get a good result just using tape and spray cans. I've read that I should probably prime with matte grey Plasti Dip first if I want the gloss white to cover more uniformly (my 4runner is Nautical Blue Metallic).

I'm also hoping that if I end up completely hating it, I can just peel it off.

Thoughts?

That's the best thing about plasti dip. If you don't like it, peel it off. Not sure if you would need a "primer" if you went thick enough on the white. I would look into getting the gallon cans vs the aerosol and use an actual sprayer. I assume you could even roll it on that way and hand paint in tight spaces and for touch up. Its fun to screw around with and from my experience lasts a really long time with minor touch ups.

Depends on how it was applied and to where. I had it last on wheels, a lip and emblems on a 1st get WRX for over a year. Wheels needed a little touchup but the rest was solid.

I used this product on my '03 Xterra trim. It looked great for about a year, then the car wash started peeling it. I suspect I didn't apply enough Cotes so I took fine sand paper and cleaned up the affected areas and masked/resprayed my trim again this past summer. I put several Cotes on this time and so far have not seen any problems.
