New to the 4Runner but not to Overlanding or Off Roading

Gt a 2017 SR5 4Runner back in Feb after looking at several other daily drivers that could double as a over-landing vehicle that would accommodate my family which include two working dogs. The land Cruiser is the perfect vehicle of course but outside my price range, so we went with the 4Runner.

So far we have done very little long distance travel (Ive put 10k miles on it since Feb, mainly commuting). We just moved back to North Carolina from Virginia Beach.

Last weekend went decided to head out to UWharrie National Forest to do some site surveying for camping. After doing more research about the area, we stumbled across the OHV trails there.

For $5 a day or $30 a year, you can purchase trail passes to drive vehicles on several trails of varies difficultly. We completed about 70% of the trails in a stock SR5 4Runner.

I have to say that I am more than impressed with the capabilities that Toyota has provided from the factory. Of course I am going to do some suspension upgrades as well as bigger tires that would allow me to go further in the OHV trails and over-landing space.
