I belong nowhere, but where I belong..

Finally back in a runner since I put over 100K on an 04 then sold it when I shouldn't have.. Then thought I needed something bigger, then something more "car" like.... I was wrong.. Should have been 4runnin' the whole time... But... at last.... Welcome our new '19 TRD off road. We snagged it, drove it around town for a couple of weeks, then headed off on a 3K plus road trip from OKC, OK to Philly down to Nashville the back to OKC.. This is a great way to break in a new T4R... We camped (state parks in Indiana and Ohio, National Park in Virginia, Shenandoah Nat'l), we hiked (Mathews Arm, some of THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL, etc), we encountered our first wild black bear in the runner, we were chased by crazy thunderstorms, we listened to crazy live music on the strip... we.... 4RAN! Just thought I'd share a little story and a few pics.. Cheers to all that let go of normal and make the country small. In a couple of weeks were are headed to Leadville, CO for some camping and hopefully a little more off roading fun.. (Suggestions form CO peeps are welcome. )

Congrats! My wife and I have been talking about taking a month off and just road tripping cross country. My parents drove across country twice when I was a kid and it was an awesome experience.

We came across this little guy after breaking camp. We had never seen a wild bear before, let alone this close. He was walking towards the truck until we gave him some chatter, then he bolted into the woods, or maybe it was a her?

The way I see it is there are 2 top level and equally awesome features to owning a 4Runner (aside from quality, longevity, and general badassary):

1) being able to mod it. Making it your own. The process of indivdualizing these trucks of all gens to suit your needs is so damn fun. Striving for the image in your mind, thinking, creating, scheming, imagining, trying, failing, succeeding, and finally glorifying. The satisfaction of that process alone is so rewarding (and basically limitless) that would be enough for me personally. But then..

2) you get to USE it! Go damn near anywhere, damn near anytime to see damn near anything. The act of adventuring is dying in this digital age. And these vehicles give us the ability to hang on to that sense of wonder and overall entertainment in the most basic sense. For me, taking a drive and possibly seeing something only .00001% of the people on Earth have ever seen is a humbling and rewarding exercise in perspective. Keeps you grounded in what remains of reality.

"4RAN" - I like it. Looks like a great truck and a great adventure. One of many to come.
