We don't get that engine option in the USA. A turbo-diesel would definitely be interesting, but I can't see any reason the suspension options would not be the same. My 2005 4Runner has the V8, but I used 2010 FJ springs to level up the front. I had to expand the lower bracket to fit the shock in, but it rides higher and much nicer than the failed XREAS. I just used standard KYB shocks on the rear.

My guess is your engine is an I-4 (inline 4 cylinder). Like was said we don't get that option in U.S. As far as suspension, a guess is that it is same as U.S. models, so you have a lot of choices. Look at some suspension discussion for 4th Gens as that is probably what will fit your 4R.

Your mechanic is corrent, you have the 3.0 L 1KZ-TE I4 turbodiesel that is specifically produced in Latin America. Unfortunately, I'm not super familiar with the engine, but the chassis looks pretty similar to an American 4th gen 4runner.
