I moved to Colorado in 2011 for offroading, with a 2011 FJ Cruiser in Army Green. Since then I've done close to 200 days on the mountains on trails.
I helped to found and now help run
Colorado FJ Cruisers on Facebook, which is open to all Toyotas that offroad in Colorado and any Toyota thinking about coming to Colorado to do some offroading. Standing offer: if you have a 4x4 and want to visit Colorado, join up and we'd be happy to help suggest some trails / destinations and possibly set up a run with the locals. Peak offroading time is July - September, due to some high passes being snowed in until the late season. We wheel before July, no doubt
but if you're traveling across the country to offroad in Colorado, don't do it in May. You won't be able to run everything.
I met my wife, got married, then she decided ~3 years ago that my FJ and her XTerra could both be replaced by a 2018 TRD Off Road 4Runner. Before it hit 1000 miles we had Expedition One front bumper / winch, BudBuilt sliders and skids, OME BP-51 suspension and Icon upper control arms:
I am more active on FJCruiserForums as the author of the
FJ Buy/Sell Guide, I help dozens of people find or price/sell their FJ's each year. When they have sticker shock at buying an FJ, I suggest buying a Lexus GX instead
Nice to meet everybody! Looking forward to this summer up in the mountains.
