Newb question - private messages

Hi there. I'm a relative newb to the site and have tried sending private messages for the first time. For some reason I can receive PM's but I don't seem to be able to send them. After trying to send a PM, they don't show up in my sent folder and the recipients don't seem to be receiving anything. Is this a bug or did I not set something up correctly?

At the bottom of the message box. You'll have to check the box that says copy of message in the send folder. Also you check the box that says read recipt to get a confirmation that your message was read.
