Hello from the north Georgia mountains. I've owned my 2004 V8 4WD sport edition 4Runner since new and now have about 92K miles on the clock. It is natural white with gray leather and pretty much the basic equipment except for the JBL stereo upgrade.
In the short time since I've been scanning the threads/posts I have come across some interesting hints on how to take care of my truck without giving all of my $$$$ to the dealer's service department. I especially appreciated the heads-up on the cabin air filter location, how to access the filter and low-cost alternatives to the factory unit. I can't believe the dealer was charging me about $60 to replace such an easily accessible (and inexpensive looking) part. Just a few minutes ago I checked my filter (before the dealer had an opportunity to beat me to it) and found, to my surprise, the beginnings of a field mouse nest! I cleaned out the big stuff and then shot some compressed air through the filter to get by until I can get to Home Depot for a Filtrite replacement.
Thanks to all for the advice - I'll be checking back often.
